Kinette Clubs have combined efforts to
donate $5,000 towards the Lucknow and
District Community Centre building fund,
The money was raised at the 1978 Kin
Summerfest staged this past summer,
The Summerfest, co-chaired.this year by
Clem and Cheryl Cote and . Barry and.
Dianne Hackett, was the biggest to date..
This year's version saW the combining of
the Summerfest with the annual Kinsmen
Intermediate Softball Tournament for the.
first time. The car show was also added
this year so that there' was something on in
the arena., at the ball park and in the
community centre at ,all times , during. ,,
Summerfest weekend, The Monte .Carlo
Night Beer - Garden and Summerfest.
Dance were, all held in the , community
centre. '
This latest donation brings the total
money` given by the Kinsmen and Kinettes
to thecornrnunity centre fund to over,
$8,000, In, addition to the $5,000 the clubs
gave $1,000 from the Summerfest bar in
agreement with the 60/40 ,'split arianged
with service 'clubs holding functions at the
centre. On top of this, $2,000 was earlier
put towards the Lottery being , run in
conjunction.: with the fund. raising.

Although there: doesn't seem to be much,
interest, the biennial process of choosing
municipal governments is upon us, nearly
a month earlier than in the past.
Nominations opened on Monday, Octob-
er 16 and will continue until October 23 at 5
p.m. - Last date for withdrawal is Tuesday,
October 23 at 5 p.m. .
In the event that there aren't enough
candidates to fill a post, even by
acclamation, the `local clerks will accept
more nominations on October 25,
For those who are unable to vote on the
regulat day, an. advanced poll . will be held
on Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m, to. 8
p.m. Regular `palling day will be held on,
Monday, November3.
Starting ,today, voters should check to
seer if their name is on the voting lists
which will be- posted at various •spots
throughout the area •municipalities;; check
the advertisements in this week's paper, or
phone your clerk,
If your name isn't on th-e voters list, you
have .until Friday, October 27 to appeal to
the clerk of your municipality and get your
name on the list to be eligible to vote.
