Ontario March of Dunes held
its annual meeting in Kitch-
ener on October 3. Mrs.
Bernice Davies and Mrs.
Laura Lee Cayley attended as
delegates from Lucknow.
Guest speaker for the
evening was Elaine Towns-
hend of Clinton. Elaine is a
• freelance writer and column-
ist. -Her column Odds N'Ends
appears in four weekly news-

papers. Because Elaine was
born without arms, her
accomplishments are quite
amazing, She lives alone, has
been driving an especially
adapted car for five years
and is even doing some.

• With the help of a few
People, Elaine started Alpha
Huron (Aawareness League
Physically Handicapped Ad-
ults) two and a half years
ago. This group has made
people aware of the barriers
that confront the physically
handicapped. All new arenas
and community centres are
now accessible for wheel-
chairs and towns building
• new sidewalks are making
curb cuts. The Alpha. Huron
group would welcome new
members. •
