The third Meeting of Zippy
Trinettes, was held at the
home of the assistant leader,
Mrs, Ivan • Cranston, on
September 28.
Anne Alton read the
minutes Of the last meeting
and Sandy Campbell gave
the treasuref's report.
The leaders discussed
"Fillings that freeze well",
Vegetables, "Add some
crunch to .your lunch", "Off
to a clean start",, "Health in
the kitchen" and. "Kitchen
Safety".
Mrs. Blake 'demonstrated
peanutbutter and carrot
spread and peanutbutter and
apple spread which was.
sampled on Healthy Yogurt
Loaf and Healthy Peanutbut-
ter bread. She also demon-
strated the white sauce -
cream fat method.
Mrs. Cranston demon-
strated white sauce -melted
fat method, which wast,used
in the recipe Potato Cheese
Chowder a' la Metric which
was also demonstrated.
All members tasted the
Potato Cheese Chowder and
the meeting was adjourned.
HOLYROOD 4-H
The 'first meeting of the
Holyrood 4-H club was held
on Monday, September 25th
at .the home of Mrs. Shirley
Stanley.
The meeting opened with
the 4-H pledge led by Wilma
Duiker.
Mrs. Stanley, leader, and
Mrs. Barb Gingrich, assist-
ant leader, introduced the
fall course "Essential Edib-
les" and members pamph-
lets were distributed to each
of the girls.,

The election of officers was
held with these results:
president, Wilma Duiker;
secretary, Lea -Anne Hald-
enby; press reporter, Beth
Gingrich.
After discussing the metric
measuring cups and spoons
which each fatpily in the club'
is to obtain, they played a
"grocery bag game" in
which a fooditem was held
up for a member to identify
and place in one of the four
food categories.
Cathy Duiker and Le -Anne
Haldenby made "Metric
Crispy Granola" which most
of the members in the club
enjoyed.
TRINITY I
The third meeting of the
Metric Measures was held at
the home of Mrs. Hackett on
September 19.
Mrs. Wilkins discussed,
"The Carried Lunch". Mrs.
Hackett discussed 'Wrap It'
and 'Add ]life to Your
Lunch'.'Mrs. Wilkins discus-
sed
lunch at home.
The members all particip-
ated in the making of white
sauce, potato cheese chowd-
er, peanut butter and carrot
spread and peanut butter
and apple spread.
The meeting closed with
the sampling of these dishes.
ST. HELENS 4-H
The first meeting of the St.
Helens 4-H club was held on
September 25, 1978, in the
St. Helens Hall.
The election of officers
took place with the following
results: president, Marian
Raynard; vice president,.
Kim Cooke; treasurer, Suz-
anne Kirkland; secretary,
press reporter, rotating.
The girls played the Groc-
ery Bag Game. This was
done , by taking everyday
foods . and reading their
ingredients then classifying
them into the four sections of
Canada's Food Guide.
All members then helped
make "Metric Crispy Gran-
ol". This.recipe is in metric
as all the recipes in the
Essential. Edible 4-H club.
While the Gronola was
baking, the members played
"Food Bingo",
KINGSBRIDGE 4-H
The fourth meeting of the
Kingsbridge, Kookies was
held on September 23, at
Barb Van Diepenbeek's.
Tea biscuits 'and how they
should look_ . were discussed.
One group of fourgirls made
under mixed tea biscuits and
another group of four girls
made over., mixed tea bis-
cuits. Cheese Wheels and
Wheat Germ Biscuits were
made as well.
Everyone then helped in
'the making of Creamy Ham
and Mushroom Supper.
The party for meeting six
was discussed. The menu
wasplanned andinvitations
were considered.
CLOVER VALLEY 4-H
The second meeting of the
Clover Valley Culinary
Queens was held- on Septem-
ber 28 at the home of Joyce
Osborne. Donna Elphick
read the minutes of the last
SADIE COOKE HACKETT •
Sadie Cooke Hackett died
in Cochrane Hospital :on her
- 83rd birthday, September 24,
1978.
She married the late
George Hackett on June 21,
1922 and they went north and
spent a very busy and
productive life.
She is survived by their
three children, Mary Harri-
son of Connaught, Irene
Anderson of Cochrane and
Dave of Cochrane, also 12
grandchildren and several
great grandchildren.
She is also survived by a
sister, Bertha Holland, of
Goderich, and • brother Peter
Cook, of Lucknow.
She • was predeceased by
her parents; frer husband, a
brother, Tom and a sister,
Susan McGee of Goderich.
The funeral was conducted
by Rev. Doug Kaufman of
Lucknow United Church at
the McKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Horne, at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, September 28,
1978.
Burial followed in Green-
hill Cemetery.
The flower bearers were
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were D. A.
Hackett, Harold Hackett,
Lorne Cook, Ivan Cook, Peter
Steer, and Tom Cooke.
