P.R.I.D.E. developed a small shop in June 1978 at 350 Saskatoon Street in London where physically, mentally or emotionally handicapped adults work. As a start, large plastic candy canes are assembled, filled with candies and prepared for shipping and in some cases delivered to an adult by a handicapped driver. The . Lions Clubs of Multiple District A are providing the initial market tor the candy cones which the members will sell in their in- dividual areas. Multiple District A covers Ontario, parts of Northern Quebec and Labrador. The Lions' Clubs will realize a profit and will supply much needed employment for han- dicapped persons. Twelve handicapped persons are working at the shop, managed by Ed Kincaid of London who is himself blind. Eventually the board of directors of P.R.I.D.E. made up of 12 concerned volunteer citizens from the London community, hope to have 140 workers by June 1979. They : may come from any area in Multiple `A" from sheltered workshops recommended by government agencies but they must apply for the work themselves.
