Miss Neighbor returned home by plane on Friday from Sarnia.. We are pleased to report that Hector Purdon after major surgery has been able to return home from hospital. His zhany friends here wish him a speedy recovery. C.O.C. The C.O.C. held their meeting September 24.in the Sunday School room with leaders Mrs. Archie Purdon and Mrs. Hugh Simpson. The president Liane Young presided. The scripture was read by Kendra Purdon. Karen Pick- ard led in prayer. The minutes were read by the secreary, Joan de Boer. Eddie de Boer led in prayer. ° The Junior story, Things God Does; was given by Mrs. Archie Purdon. The Senior story, Don't be a groundhog Christian, was given by Mrs. Simpson CEMETERY MEETING Langside Cemetery held their cemetery meeting Wed- nesday, .September 20 in Whitechurch Community Memorial Hall with presid- ent Bill Evans opening the meeting and giving' a warm welcome to all. The minutes of the 1977 meeting were read .by Mrs. V. Emerson. It was explained that the Cemetery Memorial Service held in June was not held this year due to illness of the secretary. The treasurer, Mrs. Fred Tiffin, reported $2600 in perpetual funds and a bal- ance this year of $432.90. Fred Tiffin is the caretake with salary as previous. It was decided to purchase a. load of clean top soil to be used in levelling. The ar- rangements for opening and closing graves was left at previous prices. The officers are president,. Bill Evans; assistant, Cliff Young; secretary, Valetta Emerson; assistant, Mrs. C. Young; treasurer, Mrs. Fred Tiffin; trustees Wm. Young, Elmer Scott, Bob Orr. Elmer Scott moved the adjournment of the meeting. CHALMERS W.M.S. Chalmers W.M.S. Sept- ember. meeting was held on Wednesday, September 18 at the home or Mrs. Don Ross with the president Mrs. Wm: Rintoul opening the• meeting. Mrs. Ross accompanied as the organist. The scripture was read by Mrs. Wes Tiffin. Valetta Emerson led in prayer. Mrs. Ross showed the two new plates purchased. An invitation was read from South Kinloss to attend their October Thankoffering meet- ing. Arrangements were made for the Chalmers Thankoffering meeting later in October. Anna Osborne received the offering which was dedicated by Mrs. Ross. A card was signed to be sent to Mrs. John de Boer a patient in Victoria Hospital. Mrs. Harvey Osborne gave the topic and told about the leaders' meeting she attend- ed in Teeswater. Mrs. Rin- toul clyosed the meeting with prayer. LADIES AID The Ladies Aid meeting followed the W.M.S. meet- ing. The dishes from Lang- , side church have been brought to Whitechurch. It was decided to have $10 given to Mrs. Wm Rintoul to carry on her cheer work. A work bee was planned to clean the church. Mrs. Ross served refresh- ments and Mrs. Bill Rintoul gave the courtesy remarks. Maple Leaf Chapter in Godericli given to a student who is continuing education and one from Goderich Women's Auxili- ary, given to a student pursuing nursing studies. Irene is . presently taking nurse's training with -Cones- toga College at Stratford Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Young and Mr. and Mrs. Harvie Thompson of Ripley have returned from a two week. motor trip to the Maritimes. While there they spent a day with Mel and Marilyn Reid of Chatham, New Brunswick, who took them around Mire michi Park and lent them their cottage for a night. The Reids used to live where Beres live and Fred and Donna had not seen them for 14 years, since they left here. Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Mrs. May Thane (nee McDiarmid) who died in Toronto and whose burial took place in Dungan- non Cemetery on Monday. Recent visitors with Mrs. Cecil Blake were Mrs. Harv- ey Mole of Lucknow on Wednesday; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Blake of Goderich on Thursday; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Kilpatrick of Agin- court; Miss Beulah Long, Benmiller; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kilpatrick and Mrs. A. Atkinson, of Wingham on Saturday, Mr. Ab Brown has been in hospital in London for the past two weeks. Patsy Anderson and her sister, Mary Anderson, mot- ored to California the latter part of August. Patsy stayed to work there and Mary came home by plane' to go back to high school. Sympathy is extendedt to the family of Mr. Delos Disher who died recently in Owen Sound and was buried in Southampton. Mr. Disher, who was born and raised in Dungannon • s survived by his wife and family and one sister, Miss Margaret Dish- er, Goderich.
