Fire at McClenaghan home BY MARY BERE SOCIAL NEWS Lucknow Fire' Department answered ,a call on Saturday night to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin McClenaghan (nee Donna Errington) on the 6th concession of West Wawanosh. Lightning had , struck the clothes line and entered the house at the cellarway but with the use of garden hose the fire was extinguished before the fire- men arrived. The TV at the .home of Mr. Lorne Alton was put out of commission during the same storm. Mr. and_Mrs. Thos. Web- ster attended the christening service for their great grand- son, Robert Bradley Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs: Robert Miller (nee Brenda Bradley), which was held at St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich on Sunday. About 40 guests met at the home of the baby's grandparents, Mr. .and Mrs. Bill Bradley, after the service. ' Mr. and Mrs, Ken Thom- as, -Linda, Wendy and Jen nifer of Bolton_ visited Mr. and Mr. Thos. Webster on the weekend and attended the christening of Robert Bradley Miller and the gathering at Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bradley's. Sandra'a cousins, Mr. and Mt's. Terry Bradshaw, Sher - ry and Cory of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rivett on the weekend. Alan Rivett, who has spent the summer as a horse groom at Strathroy, returned home on Monday to be ready for school on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Harrison of Sault Ste. Congratulations to Mrs. Marybelle Cranton on win- ning $1000 in the Lucknow and District Community draw recently. Steve Alton of Belfast spent Tuesday in Dungannon with his friend, Jamie Bere. Mrs. Cecil Blake visited Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kilpatrick in Wingham on Tuesday. Mrs. Eldon Austin was in St. Joseph's Hospital last week following a stroke at her home. She got home on Sunday and we wish her a good recovery. Bradley Park, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park, had a rough week. He was hospit- alized in London over last weekend with menengitis., After he got home and was able to play outside. he was bitten on the neck by a dog. However he was. able to act as ring bearer at his brother Steve's wedding on Satur- day. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mac- Donald spent a day or so with Mr. and Mrs. Howard God- frey enroute home from a trip to the West Coast. Mrs. Pearl Congram is home and getting along well following a recent operation far a cataract on her eye. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Park (nee Debbie Stothers) who were married in Nile United Church on Saturday after- noon with reception follow- ing in Lucknow Community Centre. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park were Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Handy, Mt. Pelier, Ohio, and Mr. Dan. Hill, London. Sunday callers with Mrs. Cecil Blake were Mr. and Mrs. Bill French of Hamilton and Mrs. Annie Kilpatrick of London. Mrs. Mary Bere had a pleasant surprise on Satur- day when Whilhelmina Lan- nan of Agincourt called on her Wilhelmina and Mary were classmates at S. S. No. 9 Ashfield `.x' number of years ago and had not seen each other since, so had a great visit. Wilhelmina was polidaying at Bruce Beach last week. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Orser of Detroit spent a few days with Mrs. Amy Wiggins last week. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Mc- Nee returned to London on Monday. Sandra and the boys, Eddie and Paul, had spent some weeks at their cottage at Cedar Grove Beach with Allan commuting on weekends.
