Noisy Ladies
play hard but lose
The baseball season finish-
ed abruptly, for the Lucknow
Noisy Ladies when the team
went down to defeat in two
straight games.
The victors, the Goderich •
Elevators, scored 10 runs to
Lucknow's two last Tuesday
night in Goderich and at
home on Thursday, the score
was a disappointing 8 to • 2.
Thus ended an extremely
successful season for the
Ladies who advanced to the
semi finals of the "A"
division: The teams' best
standing to date had been to
"win the "B" trophy in 1976.
Another highlight this sea-
son was bringing home the
Silver Medal from the Port
Elgin Tournament in August.
Team coaches Eric Taylor
and Steve Hackett deserve a
lot of credit for the time and
effort they spent "getting
the girls in shape". It cert-
ainly is evident from the
standings.
It was a great season and
next year should, be even
greater.
Win minor
ball tournament
Ashfield Township won
the recreational committee
minor ball tournament held
in conjunction with the
opening of the Lucknow
District Community Centre
on August 26.
Two trophies donated by
the Lucknow Legion were
presented. The Westfield
team took the consolation
trophy and Lucknow placed
third in the tournament.
