PHONE 5284118 LUCKNOW Mary Luanne Clare on pilgrimag BY TERESA COURTNEY Mary Luanne Clare, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clare, winner of the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth Educational Bus Tour sponsored by the Odd - fellows and Rebeccas for her speech on "The Holy Land", left Stratford by bus on Wednesday, July 19,,for New York, stopping on the way via Toronto, Havelock, Smith Falls and Ottawa, to pick up the 42 winners ,in the speaking contests. The next two days were spent in travelling to Montreal, Ver- mont and Connecticut land- ing at New York on Sunday, July 23. Mary . Luanne tele- phoned "-her parents from New York on Sunday evening to tell them of the great trip and the wonderful time she was havin . She will be in New York°*for 6 days before going to Washington when she will phone again. More next week! The first Kingsbridge Girl Guide Company under the leadership of Mrs. Joanne Menary and Mrs. Rochelle Champayne left on Monday, July 24 for a two day visit to the Lion's Safari at Rockton and visited the Doon Pioneer Village, Kitchener. Several from this area attended the funeral for Gordon Richard Emmerton, who passed away at the Kincardine and District Hos- pital on Saturday, July 15, in his 64th year. He is the father of Nancy, Mrs. Russell Swan. The wake was at the MacKenzie and McCreath . Funeral Home, Ripley where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. Interment was in St. Luke's Pine River Cemetery. Bill Hogan of Goderich and formerly of Kingsbridge was released from the hospital in London on Monday, July 24, following surgery. Kingsbridge's oldest citiz- en, Frank Sullivan, will celebrate his 90th birthday on Tuesday, July. 25. Con- gratulations, Frank! Open house at Frank Sullivan's to help celebrate his 90th birth- day will be held on Wednes- day, July 26 from 2 to 4 and from 7 •to 9. Everybody is welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Misch and boys of Formosa visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bayne McLennan and family on the weekend and attended the Tractor Pull at Lucknow. Mr. :and Mrs. John Joe Bowler and family, Dean Bowler and boys, Carol Bowler and friend, Kelley, all from Toronto spent the weekend at the Bowler summer home, Congratulations to Joanne Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hamilton and Rod McDonagh, son of Mrs. Norma McDonagh and the late Jack McDonagh who were married on Saturday, July 22nd in St. Andrew's United Church, Ripley. Mrs. Bob Hackett and children Aaron and Sheila left on Tuesday, July 18 for holidays with Mrs. Hackett's family in Cold Lake, Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Jim O'Neill and Mrs. Mickey MacLennan of Collingwood retuned on Sunday, July 16 following a three week vacation to the East Coast. Mr. Dennis O'Neill returned with his parents for a few weeks holidays here. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Soy, of Wisconsin 'are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Drennan and families. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Sandy and son, Paul, returned on Saturday, July 22, following holidays in Detroit, Michi- gan. Ann Boyle, Judy Robinson and Wilma VanAaken left on Tuesday, July 18 for holidays with the former's brother, with the former's brother, Michael Boyle, at, Calgary, Reverend Father Otto Haefle, C.R. died during this past week.- He was living at Formosa Parish and belong- ed to the Religious House of the Resurrection Commun- ity, the .-Kingsbridge Form- osa House. He was a faithful priest for 52 years. Reverend Father Ed Dentinger, Brother Carl Voll and several parishoners of Kingsbridge attended the wake and the funeral Mass held in Form- osa on Saturday, July 22. Carl Riegling, a patient in the Wingham and District Hospital for the past week, was able to return to his home on Wednesday, July 19. Mrs. Teresa Courtney was admitted to the Alexandra and Marine General Hospit- al, Goderich during the past week and was able to return to her home on Thursday, July 20. Seveal from this . area attended the funeral for the late Doctor John W. Wallace held at the Knox Presby- terian Church, Goderich on Tuesday,, July 18. The Rev. Paul Linklater, curate of Trinity Anglican Church, Galt assisted the Rev. G. L. Royal.. Interment was in Maitland Cemetery. Tributes to Doctor Wallace came from the four corners of the Community served by a beloved Goderich physician. A John Wallace Memorial Trust Fund was established this week to permit friends to show their deep appreciation and gratitude to a departed friend. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dalton and family, Nanaimo, British Columbia are spending holi- days with his father, Ray- mond Dalton and members of the Dalton families. Frank Ryan, ' Toronto is spending holidays with his sister, Mrs. Walter . Clare, Mr. Clare and -Mary Luanne. Jeannie and Barbara Sin - nett of Detroit visited from Wednesday to Friday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sinnett and family and with Mr. and Mrs. John Austin and family. Sister Antoinette of Kil- -lum, Alberta, her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Lassa - line of Petrolia and Jack Redmond of St, Catharines visited during the past week with Mrs, Clarice Dalton, and family and with her father, Dennis Lassaline, who is making his home with✓ Clarice. . Several from this area attended the 15th annual Festival of Arts and Crafts Show and the Sidewalk Sales held on the square in Goder- ich on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 20, 21 and 22. Displays of photography, painting, sculpture, weav- ing, jewellery, leather and sewing were enjoyed. The square was partially blocked off to the traffic and a midway set up was enjoyed by the young. Farmers and gardeners in this area were relieved to get rain during this past week which did so much for the crops. The hottest and mug- giest day so far this year was Saturday, July 22. Bridget `Dalton, daughter j of Mrs. Clarice Dalton and her sister, Louise and Peter Martin and family of Glamis are on holidays at Gaspe. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Garvey and family of Clark- son are• holidaying - at their summer home here.
