Kingsbridge holds get acquainted shower for... brides --= -

A get -acquainted shower
was held in St. Joseph's
Parish Hall at Kingsbridge
on Thursday, July 13 for
Mrs. Peter VanDiepenbeek
and Mrs. Ben VanDiepen-
beek, newly weds. Margaret
Austin, chairperson welcom-
ed everyone and asked each
lady to give her name in
introduction. Lisa Frayne did
two dance numbers and
Denise Dalton played piano
flections. Al quiz involving
things a husband should or
should not do for or to his
wife with words ending in er
and are utensils or applianc-
es used in the kitchen, was
won by Teresa Courtney and
Rita Howard. The brides
were presented with gifts of
money.
Harold George Elligson of
Stratford passed away at the
Stratford General Hospital
on Thursday, July 13 in his
71st year, after a lengthy
illness. He is survived by his
wife, the former Jean Dren-
nan of Ashfield (sister of
Henry Drennan, R. R. 7
Lucknow); one son William
E. of Elmira, 2 grandchild-
ren, 1 brother and one sister.
The funeral was held at Zion
Angelical Lutheran Church,
Erie Street, Stratford on
Saturday. Sincere sympathy
is extended to Henry, Bern-
ice and their families.
Mr. Kenneth L. MacKen-
zie of Ashfield Township
passed away on Tuesday,
July 11 in his 71st year. His
body rested at the MacKen-
zie and McCreath Funeral
Horne in Lucknow where the
funeral service was held on
Thursday, July 13 at 2 p.m.
Interment was in the South
Kinloss Cemetery. Sincere
sympathy is extended to his
wife.
Mr. P. Rovers of Holland
arrived on Monday, Jul? 17
for a two week'vacation with
Mr., and Mrs. John VanRooy
and family and with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill VanDyke and
family. Mr. Rovers was
accompanied by Mr. C.
Raymakers also from Hol-
land who will be spending his
two week vacation with his
sister in law, Mrs. Bill
VanDyke, Mr. VanDyke and
family.

Pilgrimage to the Shrine of
Our Lady of the Rosary, St.
Mary's, Ontario on , Thurs-
day, July 13. Many area
churches of the Diocese of
London wererepresented.
Father Dentinker assisted
Reverend Father, Moore and
Father Nolan in the concele-
brated high mass beginning
at 11 a.m., follo)ved by a
picnic lunch on tile grounds.
In the afternoon everyone
took part in the procession of
the Rosary, Benediction and
the Blessing of the Sick. The
weather was beautiful and
the atmosphere relaxed - a
real joyful experience.

tion sale held at the Auction
Rooms, Highway 21, one
mile south of Goderich on
Friday, July 14 beginning at
7 p.m.
Over 200 attended° a pig
roast held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter VanDiepen-
beek on Saturday evening,
July 15. Two pigs on spits
were roasted over open fires
by several youth of this area,
and with potato, cabbage and
bean salads, and delicacies,
sure made delicious feasting.
Thanks to the boys for their
fine work.
A stag party was held for
Jim Pentland, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ronald Pentland, R. R.
6 Goderich on Saturday, July
15 at Bob Mole's shed. Jim's
marriage to Joanne Ritchie,
daughter of Mr. .and Mrs.

ted to the Wingham and
District Hospital on Wed-
nesday, July 12 with pneu-
monia. His many friends
wish him a speedy recovery.
Frank Riegling of White-
law, Alberta flew to the
Lon ion airport on Sunday,
July 16 and is spending
holidays with his mother,
Mrs. Carl Riegling and
members of the Riegling
families, and visiting with his
father, a patient in the
Wingham Hospital.
Ambrose Redmond who
has been working in Ghana,
Africa arrived home on
Friday, July 14 for three
weeks vacation with his
family here.

death of Mrs. Swan's father,
Gordon Emmerton. His fun-
eral was held on Tuesday,
July 18 with interment in St.
