church old time ball players
played the young folks of
today in Whitechurch Park.
The old timers won 17 a

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Porteous
of, Lucknow were Sunday .
afternoon callers on Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Mrs. George Tiffin and
Mr. and Mrs. Les Purvis
were Sunday evening visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin.
A surprise party was held
on Saturday evening to
celebrate George Currie's
83rd birthday. Present for
the occasion were their
family, Currie relatives from
Wingham, Mr. and Mrs.
Wes Tiffin and Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Mowbray. All enjoyed a
birthday dinner with all the
trimmings. George received
gifts as a reminder of the
happy occasion.
Miss Lois Falconer of
Stratford returned home on
Sunday after spending a few
days with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Mowbray.
Wilford Clipperton on Sat-
urday attended the_ wedding
• • of his brother, Fred's daugh-
ter in London.
Mr. and Mrs.- John Gaunt
visited on Saturday with their
son, George Gaunt and Mrs.
Gaunt in London.
This community extends
their sincere sympathy to the
relatives of .Kenneth . Mac-
Kenzie and, Eddy MacKenzie
in their passing. Both will be
remembered by all . who
attended the club dances in
the old Langside Hall and all
other social functions of that
age.
Mrs. Gordon Elliott and
Mrs. L. Galbraith of Wing -
ham were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Elliott and family.
Miss Janet Laidlaw with
four others from Lucknow
Band .were at Beaverton
where winner members from
several other bands were in
attendance and gave a Band
Concert Saturday night. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Laidlaw, and Kimberley at-
tended the concert and went
for her on Sunday. There
were 115 there.
Nat Thomson of Lucknow
was a Sunday evening caller
on Mr. and Mrs.. Victor
Emerson.
Word was received here
Sunday that Bruce McGuire
of Thornbury, father of
Russel McGuire had passed
away due to a heart attack in
Thornbury Hospital. The
funeral is on Wednesday,
July 19th at Thornbury
United Church at 2 o'clock.
Many of the folks in the
farming community had vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs.
Russel McGuire at his fath-
er's home and enjoyed his
hospitality for which he was
noted. The community ex-
tends to Mr. and Mrs. Russel
McGuire and family their
sincere sympathy.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin John-
ston were callers in Goderich
on Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
Ira Dickie, Miss Clare and
Ida McGowan.
Mrs. Gertrude Tiffin was a
Sunday evening caller on Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted McClen-
aghan of Kitchener spent the
weekend with Miss Mildred
McClenaghan,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gut-
oskie and family returned on
Saturday to Bill Rintouls
after spending a week's
holiday at Parry Sound
Provincial Park.
Lisa Evans returned home
on Tuesday evening with her
mother, Mrs. Ted Evans,
after visiting Monday and
Tuesday with her grandpar-
ents; Mr. ,and Mrs. Bill
Evans.
The community were sorry
to learn that Mrs. John
McInnes of Briarwood Cres-
cent last Thursday suffered a
stroke which hospitalized
her.
