Holyrood Happenings
A time for memories at Grey Ox

BY LYNNE NICOLSON '
It was a time for memor-
ies, a time to think of past
years, old friends, young
adventures. A time to find
out what happened to the boy
who sat behind you in class
and pulled your hair or the
girl who always made you
blush when she smiled at
you. Time to catch up on
budding new families and
each of their lives. For those
who never lost contact, it was
a time to share. Such was the
way the Grey Ox Gathering
turned out. People from the
area, across Canada and
even from the United States
all joined together at the
Grey Ox corner to witness
the Dedication Ceremony for
the Grey Ox Memorial Pla-
que, Sunday, July 9, 1978.
Piper, Frank MacKenzie,
played ballads that stirred
many Scottish heart while
people gathered. After wel-
coming, comments and the ,
Invocation by Rev. A. M.
(Sandy) Nicholson (which is
really spelled with an "H" as
I found out later while talking
to him. It seems that when
Sanity went to school the
teacher who was English,
told him he was spelling his
name incorrectly and al-
though Sandy tried to protest
it was to no avail. So as you
can see his last name was
from then on spelled with an
"H".) The Plaque was
unveiled. People were then
asked to attend the Kairshea
Hall where refreshments
were served and old pictures
and articles of other interest
could be viewed. A pleasant
and memorable afternoon
was had by all and after fond;,_
farewells with promises
keeping in touch, people re-
turned home to think of now
newly rekindled memories.
