The Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-07-12, Page 9Program subject to chang,, C.0 .S.O. teach er comes home BY RUTH BUCHIVJCEI(ER Welcome home to Betty Colwell who has beein Africa for the past two, yLei, Betty was teaching Home Economics at a teacher's college in Ghana, West Africa. She went as a C.U.S.O. volunteer and had a very interesting, healthy and enjoyable two , years. Betty plans to spend the summer at home and go back to University in the fall. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Evan Keith and family on the death of Evan's mother, Mrs. Duncan Keith of Teeswater. Mrs. Keith passed away last week. Mrs. Philip Steer is holi- daying in England and Wales with her sister and other relatives. Twelve 4-1-1; members, un- der the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dickie and Mrs. Bob Gilchrist and Danny, spent 2 days at a camp out at Hope Bay. Their camp out included hiking on the Bruce Trail, swimming, cooking and setting up their tents. Everyone enjoyed their weekend and learned some- thing more about camping. A very interesting event was held at the Grey Ox corner on Sunday. People that attended school as students and teachers that taught there many years ago attended the dedication of the plaque in memory of the Grey Ox -school and tavern. Little League ball Little League ball consists of four teams, for boys 12 years and under, within the four municipalities, including Lucknow, North Ashfield, Dungannon and Westfield. After the ceremony they all were invited to the Karishea Hall at the 6th corner for refreshments and a social. Mrs. Nancy MacIntyre was hostess for a bridal shower for Mary Needham of Ripley, on Monday. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Graham were Blanche Beaton and Mrs. Bert Annis (the former Nellie Graham) of Vancouver, Ren- nie Graham of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. John Lowndes of Queensville and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snow of Fergus. All attended the big dedication of the Grey Ox. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie was Miss Bessy Carnochon of Ottawa. Out of town visitors with Mr. and Mrs.. Lloyd Mac- Dougall and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Needham were Mrs. Florence Golden of Detroit, Miss Margaret MacDiarmid of Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith of Virden, Mani- toba, Mrs. Ada Blackmore and daughter, Mrs. Mary Ashley, of Reston, Manitoba.
