Holyrood Happenings
BY LYNNg NICOLSON
Congratulations Canada,
which turned 111 on its
birthday, July 1. There were
many celebrations taking
place across Canada and a
few in this area as well. Hope
you were able to attend one.
It is a time that brings
everyone more closely' to-
gether for at least one day of
the year. A few probably
wish then that Canada was
not in this separation dilem-
ma and for others who don't
care, a time to ponder and
start seeing that this situa-
tion needs more people who
do care,
As I said before, there
were many celebrations tak-
ing place and a few area
people attended Kincard-
ine's salute to Canada. There
were many interesting things
happening that pleased ev-
ery age group such as skate-
boarding comReltitions, base-
ball tournainents, a pipe
band parade and pipe and
drum competitions as well as
a mass pipe. and drum dem-
onstration and to top off
everything perfectly, a spec-
tacular scene, of brilliantly
coloured fireworks.
Miss Lois Hanna, Mrs. E.
Hanna and Mrs. Hanna's
sister, Mrs. D. Willits head-
ed out Sunday, July 2 on a
trip to Winnipeg where Lois
will be dropped off at her
dunes home while Mrs.
Hanna and Mrs. Willits
continue on to take a trip
across Canada. They will be
away for a month. Hope their
vacation is enjoyable.
The Busy Bees of Holyrood
entertained at the annual
Senior Citizens night in Tees -
water, sponsored by the
Library Committee. There
was also other entertainment
from Teeswater and every,
one was treated to a slide
presentation by Bevin Ire-
land who travelled recently
to Australia and New Zea-
land with the Junior Farm-
ers.
It seems as if everyone was '
attracted to the city this week
as we had four area people
visiting Toronto.
Mrs. F. Page and Rosita
travelled to Toronto to visit
Mrs. Page's daughter and
her family. They in turn
accompanied Mrs. Page on
her return home.
Caryn NicolSon and her
grandmother, Mrs. J. Hugh-
es, are visiting with relatives
this week and are expected
home on Wednesday.
Tri -Celebrations were held
in Mildmay last weekthid and
was attended by some area
folk. Many attractions were
viewed but the most out-
standing seemed to be the
stage show. Entertainment
was provided by Homer and
Jethro. Catherine McKinnon
and the very. funny Charlie
Farqharson (alias Don Har-
ron or vise versa). It sounded
like it was an extremely good
evening of entertainment.
