Whitechurch BY VALETTA EMERSON Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Schwich- tenberg, Lori and Kerry of Port Elgin spent Friday to Sunday with her father, Albert Coultes, and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Craig and family and assisted her father with his sale at Belgrave on Saturday and to move to the apartment. Achievement Day for the 4-H club will be held May 6 at Teeswater Public School. This -year Whitechurch Club will have Kathy Purdon receiving Advanc- ed Honours as she has attended 18 clubs. Congratulations to Kathy. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jamieson of Goderich visited on Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Orville Tiffin, a patient at Wingham Hospital and with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of Wingham. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Bill Versteeg's father is a patient at University Hospital with a stroke. The .community wishes him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Currie were Friday evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snowden and Billie Jr. of Goderich visited on Sunday with her grandmother, Mrs. Orville Tiffin,' a patient at Wingham Hospital and laterwith her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tiffin and Joey. Visitors on Sunday with -Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw, Janet and Kimberley, were Mr. and Mrs. Orland Irwin, ..Faye, Stephen, Donald and Michael of West Wawanosh and Mrs. Clara Crow- ston of Lucknow. Whitechurch W.I. residents of Whitechurch are going to Pine - crest Nursing Home on Thursday at. 2 p.m. to put on a birthday party for those having April birth- days. A wedding reception was held. Friday evening at Lucknow Leg- ion.wlth Tiffin's Orchestra for Mr. and Mrs. Marc Sahil. The Y.P.S. held their meeting Sunday evening at the manse.. Clara Milligan led the discussion on Homosexuality. Rev. Brown of Bluevale visited the group. Wayne Farrier, Kimberley and Amy of Guelph spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Agnes Farrier. Mrs. Wayne Farrier had to remain at home to attend work at her position. Rev. and Mrs. Wayne Buswick of Mississauga were Monday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Osborne and family. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Williams of Clifford had charge of the service in the United Church and Rev. Wilena Brown had charge of the service at Clifford. Mrs. Earl Caslick of Wingham was a Thursday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes of East Wawanosh. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson, Darlene, Sharon and Brenda of St. Catharines spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Mr. and Mrs. Ted McClenag- han of Kitchener spent the weekend with Mildred McClenag- han. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Orville Tiffin is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. She is wished a speedy recovery by her relatives and friends. On Tuesday last Mr. and Mrs. Don Gillespie and Mrs. Don Bushell. of Kinlough and Mrs. Agnes Farrier were at Sarnia to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gillespie, as Jack is not having good health. On Friday the wedding of Jean Simpson and Marc Sahil was held at 5 p.m. in Chalmer's Presbyter- ian Church with Rev. D. Nugent of Ripley and Mr. Harvey Osborne, student preacher, in charge. The community extends congratulations. A -sale of household and carp- enter tools was held at Belgrave arena for Albert Coultes on Saturday at which good prices were realized with Brian Rintoul, auctioneer. On Saturday evening Albert Coultes moved to the east apart- ment above . Mr. and Mrs. Moore's store on Highway 86. The Whitechurch Women's Institute canvassers are this week completing collecting for the Cancer Society. The community extends their sympathy to the relatives of the late Mrs. Elora Emmerton who passed away last week at Southampton Nursing Home. She leaves to mourn her loss one son Ward Walker of Kincardine. She was the daughter of the late Mr. __ and Mrs. Newton Crowston of Langside and grew to young womanhood there. On Tuesday evening, April 18; a shower was held in White- church Community • Memorial Hall for bride to be Jean Simpson. Mrs. Don Ross played piano music while the crowd was gathering. Mrs. Ross presided for the entertainment. Mrs. Millan Moore gave readings. Two con- tests were conducted. Mrs. Victor Emerson gave . a short address and the bride to be then received her gifts assisted by her mother, Mrs. Hugh Simpson, and sister, Darlene. Jean thanked all for coming, Mrs. Ross and Mrs. McClenaghan who sponsored the shower and all for their lovely gifts. • WHITECHURCH W.M.S. The Women's Missionary Soci- ety meeting was held Wednes- day, April 19 at 2, p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bill Rintoul. Mrs. Bill Evans opened the meeting with a poem.
