Forrester returned to their home on Malcolm Street after a winter visit in the San Francisco area in California. They visited with their son, Glen, at • Norgan Hill nearby. While there Elsie and Ossie took a week's bus tour to the south part and after the bus parked for the night, they found next morning they were knee deep or wheel deep in flood water r a very rare occurrence in California. Everyone is glad to welcome them home and hope by this time they are again getting used to the snow and ice still around Ripley. They arrived late on Friday and everyone was glad to meet Ossie upstreet Saturday morning. On Friday evening, March 17, - St. Patrick's Day, the wedding dance was held in the Ripley High School auditorium for Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Eadie. Mrs. Eadie is Anne Ferguson, elder daughter of Lester and Audrey Ferguson of t the sixth concession went in Huron Township. With so many places now available for winter vacations the writer made two errors in these sun fun spots last week namely, Harold, Tena, Allan, and Wanda May Wyld were in the Bahamas, The three girls, Christie Messen- ger of Reid's Corners, and Donna and Denise Huber of Ripley are in Hawaii for the winter break. The mistakes were unintentional and it , is hoped that everyone had a good time. Graham Cook is back home again. Last Friday his wife, Mary, brought him back from St. Joseph's Hospital. On the previ- ous Friday, March 10, Graham underwent surgery. Ripley area friends wish Graham continued recovery. Early last week Mrs. Wm. J.. Arnold of Ripley entered St. Joseph's Hospital in London. Later in the week Gladys under- went surgery. Area folks send BY AB WYLDS best wishes for her recovery. She is presently a patient there. Mrs. Katherine Coiling of Ripley reports another sign of the coming spring, despite the week- end's blustery raw weather. She was able to see her snowdrops in bloom as early -as • March 8. 'Recent visitors with Mrs. Coiling were a sister of her late husband, Mrs, Freda Haines, and her daughter, Mrs. John McIntosh of Wingham. The March meeting of the Ripley Agricultural Society was held on Monday evening of last week with president, Jack Farrell, in charge. In attendance were Bob Osborne, Mrs. Janet Farrell, Mrs. Sheila MacDonald, Mrs. Frances Godfrey, Dorothy and Russ Brooks, Keith van der Hoek; John Gamble, Wes Smith, Hugh Mason, Gordon Patterson, Mor- ley Scott, and Cecil Sutton; also Allan Gamble of the Complex Board. Treasurer Mrs. Dorothy Brooks` -gave the financial report to date and secretary Ab-Wylds read the correspondence receiv- ed. Delegates to the Ontario convention held in February in the Royal York Hotel in Toronto gave reports on different parts of the convention. They were Fran- ces Qodfrey, Sheila MacDonald, Janet Farrell, Keith van der Hoek, , Cecil Sutton and Jack Farrell. Further plans were made for the fair on Saturday, Septem- ber 30. All 4-H club leaders for the Ripley -Huron fair are invited to attend the next monthly meeting on April 10th, 8.30 p.m. William Robertson was up .from Toronto visiting with his brother Bobby and .with friends in the area. This was the first time for Bill for the winter.., After spending several weeks of this lengthy winter on vacation in sunny Arizona, Mrs. Frances Elliott and Mrs. Effie Sutherland returned home about the middle of last week. During their vacation they met with other folks who were also in Arizona from this area. A fire caused by grease splattering and catch- ing fire and flaming to the ceiling in the kitchen. The 4-H Agricultural clubs are in full swing for 1978. Boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 20 years as of January lst, 1978 are needed. The,._organizational meeting for this area will be held in the Kincardine Township -Tiv- erton School at 8.30 pan. on Tuesday, March .28. At that time the following clubs will organize - grain, horse, beef and, dairy. Folks in this area are glad to learn that Donald Mason of Kincardine, who had surgery in Victoria Hospital, London on Monday of last week, is getting along satisfactorily. His wife, Annie, who has been staying down in , London, was able to return home this past weekend.' "Don and Annie, being former residents of Ripley, are well known here and best wishes for Don's successful recovery is extended.. Also Annie brought back the news, a former native of Huron Township and former resident of Ripley, Reid Morgan, is /a patient in Vic Hospital, undergoing surgical treatment. Best wishes also go to Reid at this time. Mrs. Eileen Carter had several ladies at a quilting party last week. Jim Scott and Bill Tranter and friends are on a skiing trip to Utah. Mrs. Mary Worthington ; re- turned home from St. Joseph's Hospital,' London last weekend where she had undergone surg- ery. Friends wish, her continued' recovery. Last Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brooks, Mrs. May MacDon- ald and Mr. Ross Willets visited with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart MacDonald an Belmont. Visiting with Mrs. Gladys Mason on the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Forster, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Forster and Donna Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Don McCosh, private Ron Mason of Base Borden. Dr. and Mrs. Sandy MacDon- ald and son Curtis of Kincardine visited in Ripley with his mother Mrs. Mary (Donnie) MacDonald on the weekend. Rev. Jim Bushell, Mr. and Mrs. Don McCosh, Sandy, Ken and James McEwan and friend visited with Mrs. Gladys Arnold in St. Joseph's Hospital, London on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tranter and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pollock returned from a Florida vacation. Miss Cathy Irwin of Brampton is visiting with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Allan Irwin. Carmon Courtney of Arden is with his parents Elmer and Joyce Courtney and family. Miss Katherine Murray of Toronto is visiting with her sister Annie and husband, Mr. ,and Mrs. Hamilton MacKinnon. Directors of the Happy Hearts met on Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Mary (Donnie) • MacDonald. They plan a euchre party for Thursday afternoon at 2 this' week in the Ripley Huron Legion Hall. Everyone welcome. Mrs. Steve Bell and Mrs. Muriel MacAuley of Ripley are patients in Kincardine Hospital. . Miss Katherine Craig visited last week with her grandmother Mrs. Donatda Gossell. - Mrs. Lizzie MacDonald, Ripley was a guest at the Eadie -Fergus- on wedding.
