The Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-03-22, Page 12Page 12-Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, March 22, 1978 . ................. • Captain Harvey McQuillin of the "Manitoulin" receives a wooden -- sculpture from Lynda Rochette, a young student of Port -Cartier, Quebec, in-hdhour of being the captain of the first ship to dock in with a shipment of bentonite for the new Sidbec Normines plant at the Quebec Cartier Mining Wharf. To commemorate the event, representatives of the Tmpltny, presented Captain McQuillin with the hand sculptured wooden statue, sculptured by a Canadian Artist of St -Jean Port-Joli. Captain McQuillin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick McQuillin, Lucknow. The "Manitoulin" home port is St. Catharines, Ontario. Representatives of Sidbec Normines at the Quebec Cartier Mining Wharf, Port Cartier, Quebec, appear, with Captain Harvey McQuiliin of the "Manitoulin". The company presented a hand crafted.wooden sculpture to Captain McQuillin to honour him as the captain of the first ship to dock with a -shipment for the new plant. On Tuesday evening .the Wom- en's Institute held their card party at the hall with 5 tables in play. A very social time was enjoyed with prizes going to Mrs. Ed Thompson, Cliff Johnston, Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller and Bruce Elliott. The next cardparty will be on March 28th. Everyone is cordially. invited. The Presbyterian W.M.S. Eas- ter Thankoffering took the form of a congregational pot luck supper at the church on Wednesday evening, March 15th, which,. everyone enjoyeft, also the pro- gram that f011owed. Miss Winnifred Percy read the scrip- ture, and Rev. G. Thompson offered prayer. Easter readings were given by Mrs. Frank Maulden and Mrs. Tom McDon- ald. Mrs. Jack Barr led in a sing along of Easter hymns. A letter from their adopted child was read. A film and sing song of the Caribbean followed. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haldenby ienby returned home from Toronto where they visited with their daughter Marjorie Bennett who is hospitalized. We wish her im- proved health. Relatives and friends attended the wedding and reception for Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Eadie (nee Anne Ferguson) on Friday even- ing. We extend congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Breckles and Mr. Arthur Breckles Sr. visited on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Warwood at Toronto and with Mrs. Cotton at Unionvil- le. Mr. Allan Nicholson and Bran- don of Wallaceburg visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and Lois. Allan return- ed home, but Brandon remained for a longer stay with his grand- parents. Mrs. Gertrude Bushell return- ed to the. home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Breckles from the Wing - ham and District Hospital. We wish her continued improvement. Congratulations to . Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haldenby who will celebraje their 54th wedding anniversary on Friday, March 24th. All our best to this couple for the years ahead. On Palm Sunday at the Anglican Service, Dawne Evelyn, daughter of Mr. and /Irs. Allan Rhody, was baptized. Service on Easter Day will be at 10.30 'a.m. The many friends of Mr. Arthur Graham were sorry to know he was takenby ambulance to the Wingham and District . Hospital on Thursday last. We all wish him improved health. A bridal shower was held at the home of Mrs, Lomax Bushell in Lucknow in honour of her niece, Miss Marilyn Bushell, of Wing - ham. Relatives and friends froin here attended.
