The Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-03-15, Page 23Leo ActivitiesA BY MIKE MeDONAGII The Lucknow and District Leo Club has been quite active in the past two months. At one of their February meetings, Douglas Ead- ie of Holyrood gave a slide show of his travels through Asia. As 'this meeting was held in the school gym, it was closed with a volleyball game. A Toboggan party was held on February 22, followed by hot. chocolate at the town hall. A very successful 'dance was held on March 3 at the Holyrood Hall. For the March 8th meeting the club had as their guests, Ken and Carol Adams, who gave a talk and display of their archery skills. All members present had a turn at shooting. On Sunday of this week Lucknow Leos hosted the Brus- sels Leos for a broomball game. Although they lost 8-5, a lot of fun was had by all. Taking advantage of the school situation, the club went bowling Monday afternoon. The club is approaching its second anniversary at the end of this month. AlthOligh, a lot of fun and games are had by the club, they also pride themselves of the work and money they put into the town's betterment, e.g. play- ground equipment, Senior Citiz- ens' supper, etc. New members are welcomed. Just ask any member. Next meeting is March 22, 7.30 at the Town Hall. SCHIESTEL- Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schiestel, R. R. 2, Wirigham, are .happy to announce the arrival of a daughter, Isobel, on March 6, 1978, in Wingham and District Hospital. POLLARD - Born to Donald and Lillian Pollard, (nee Mitchell), R. R. 4 Ripley, infant son, Elmer Raymond on February 28, 1978, at Wingham Hospital. Baby expired at St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Bob Shepherd, P R. R. 3, Luck - now, winner of the Kinsmen draw for a trip for two to the Bahamas has decided to accept thecashprize of $600 instead of the trip south. Proceeds from the draw will be used for community .service projects sponsored by the Lucknow and District Kinsmen Club. Town. & Country see. Ice Capades BY MRS. CLARE JOHNSTONE The Town and Country Club and visitors enjoyed a trip to Kitchener to see the Ice Capades. We were taken by bus sponsored by the Kinettes of Lucknow. Around 70 enjoyed the trip. We would like to thank the Kinettes once again for a wonderful day. Charles Brindley, R. R. 2 Holyrood, and Brian Scott,. King- ston, shared a winning ticket in the March 2nd draw of .the Wintario lottery. The win was $10,000. Mrs. Al Irwin returned home on. Saturday, March 11 from University Hospital where she was hospitalized for nine days following an accident. ' Mrs. Mae McKendrick of Lucknow returned home after spending a few weeks withher cousins Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Holmes of Windsor. While there she called on friends in Essex, and Kingsville and remained for a few days with them. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ritchie, Lucknow have returned home from a 3 week visit with Mr. and Mrs. Flank Riegling and family at Whitelaw, Alberta. Mrs. George Stuart, Lucknow, is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. Sharon McDonagh visited with her grandmother, Norma Mc- Donagh, Lucknow, over the weekend. She is the daughter of M. and Mrs, Murray McDonagh of Sault Ste. Marie' and is attending the University of Guelph. Karen Gaunt, R. R. 1 Lucknow returned home last Friday after a 5 week stay in Toronto Hospitals. On Saturday evening, March 11, 1978, the Jardine family arranged a delightful dinner and social evening,at the Parish Hall, Lucknow, in recognition of Mrs. Jean Jardine's upcoming, birth- day. Present at the dinner, which was .served by 3 friends of the family, Tillie Wilson, Arnetta , Thompson and Susan Moffat, were Ken and Ruth Jardine, Lucknow; Gary and Sherri Rea - vie, Joel and Nichole, Wingham; Rick and Barb Jardine and Angela, Lucknow.; Brenda and Dave Schiestel and Jason, Wing- . ham; Brian and Debbie Jardine, Melissa and Peter, Kitchener; Mary and Barry Gardner, Wing - ham; Alice Malcolm Ailsa Craig; Mr, and Mrs. tarry' Ifarrisoti, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harrison, Kim and Becky, Mr: and Mrs. Doug Harrison and Angela, all of Gocleriph.
