Friends and neighboursgather-
ed at the home of Howard and
Marlene Godfrey on Saturday
evening for a surprise party in
honour of Howard and Marlene to
mark their 25th wedding anniver-
sary which is coming up on March
21. The party was organized by
their . daughter Sue and her
husband, Glen MacDonald, who.
were home from Kitchener for the
weekend. u Guests were present
from Kitchener, Owen Sound,
Bayfield, Clinton, Waterloo, Eth-
el and the local area.
The Orange Lodge held, a card
party at their hall on Friday,
March 3 at which there were 7
tables. Ladies' high prize was
won by Mrs. Louise Brindley;
ladies' second prize, Mrs. Lynn
Wall; men's high, Herb Finnigan;
men's second, Don Hackett.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Eedy came
to Irvine Eedy's for the weekend
and Megan and Jennifer, who
had spent the past week with
their grandparents, returned
home with Bob and Cathy.
Sympathy is extended to the
MacAulay family on the death of
Mrs.- MacAulay's. father; Mr.
William Barker, in Toronto on
Saturday, March 4.

Goderich Hospital.
Mr. Art Stewart returned home
on Wednesday after a 40 day stay
at Victoria Hospital, London
where he underwent ' surgery.
Mrs. Stewart stayed with Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Stewart in Lambeth
during Art's time in hospital so
she could be near to visit him. Art ,
has been hospitalized four times
since last November and has
parted with his appendix and gall
bladder so we hope he will soon
be well again.
Mrs. Dorothy Errington return-
ed home from London on Friday
after having been in hospital for
the past month. We wish her a
steady continuing recovery.
Sympathy is extended to Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Brindley on the
death of Harry's father, Gordon
Brindley, who died suddenly at
his home in Goderich on Monday,
March 6, in his 62nd year.
Miss Beth McConnell has been
indisposed with a heavy cold this
past week.
Ed Godfrey is wearing a cast on
his left wrist following , an
operation last week for an
infection on the bone.
Mrs. Carol McNall has opened
a little store in a mobile beside
her home on the Mill Hill. It is
called Carol's Variety and featur-
es a variety. of articles as well .as

Rev. C. G. Westhaver gave a
sermon entitled, "He must needs
go through Samaria". Mrs. Carol
Reed played the organ and, the
congregation sang the hymn "My
own dear land" (an Irish Melody)
-M-lieu of a choir anthem. The
children's story was about, "St.
Patrick and the Shamrock".
Explorers meet on Tuesday at
7.00 p.m..
There will be no choir practice
until further notice.
The UCW Thankoffering meet-
ing will be on Sunday, March
19, at the church at 8.00 p.m.
UCW visitors for the month of
March are Helen Stothers, Cora'
Thompson, Donna Alton, Doris
Hodges. Please let them know if
you. know of a particular need for
visitation.
Next Sunday will be observed
as Palm Sunday. The newly
appointed elder, Mr. Dirk Logten-
berg, will be inducted into office
in -the service next Sunday.
Mr. Lorne Hasty was elected
clerk of the Dungannon session,
replacing the late Mr. `' Bert
McWhinney, at a recent session
meeting.
The fourth meeting of the
Communicants Class is at the
Dungannon Church on Sunday,
Pre-school story hour is being
held every Tuesday in the library.
Many of the students of Grade 6,
room 9, have been reading stories
that they have written . and
illustrated the elves.
Many of the classes have .been
using the snowshoes to trek along
the trail beside the brook near the
school grounds or around the
school yard. There is now a class
set of snowshoes and the weather
has been ideal for their use, .a
good . way to get fresh air and
exercise.
The girl's hockey team played'
against Ripley, on Tuesday,
March . 7.. Ripley girl's team won
the game 5-3.
Mrs. Wilson's Grade 1 class
enjoyed hot dogs and jello for
lunch on Friday.
The Rocket group from Grade
3, who have been reading about
Cowboys, made ' flapjacks with
Mrs. Bere on Friday and enjoyed
eating their product.

January wasn't .. too busy,
everyone was afraid of the
weather. Our faithful organiza-
tions however, came as usual.
Lucknow Christian Reformed
Church ladies played bingo. The
Pentecostal Church from Kin -
lough came to sing.. The Kinette
Club of Lucknow played cards and
bingo with the .residents.
The birthday party hostesses
for this month were the Lucknow
Senior Women's Institute. Their
program was enjoyed and Happy
Birthday was sang to Edith oynt,
January 7 and Annie Purdon,
January ..20. Lucknow Christian
was celebrated on February 19
when Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Cerson celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary. Congratu-
lations to a great couple..

piano and the Kairshea Women's

ON Tuesday, March 7, the.
Zippy Trinettes II assembled at
Dona Campbell's home.
. The president, Sandra Camp-
bell, called the meeting to order.
Seven members answered roll
call, Define a good citizen.
The meeting topic was People,
Laws and Ideas, which was
conducted by the two leaders,
using a poster with pictures for a
contest and. discussion.
HOLYROOD
The fifth meeting of . the
Holyrood Tip Top Tailors was
held on Saturday, March 11th at
the home of Shirley Stanley.
Everyone answered the roll call
by explaining how they had
looked' at someone and formed an
opinion .of them and how the
clothes, worn had affected that
opinion:
Lori Gingrich read the minutes
of the fourth meeting. Mrs.
Gingrich read about Clothing
Considerates and demonstrated
different seams including flat
felled and French.
Some members worked on their
samples while other worked on
notes and discussed the exhibit.

Lucknow. Jan's topic for her
speech was, "Public Speaking".
A very successful benefit dance
was held on March 4th at
Brookside School for the Harold
Menary family who lost their
home by 'fire recently. The
Student's Council gave a donation
of $25.00.

Easter Communion service and
the service of ;confirmation and
reception of members will be held
at both Dungannon.. and Nile
churches on Easter Sunday,
March 26. No Good Friday service
is planned.

.Fellowship
Plans are being made for the
Easter weekend in the life of the
Christian Fellowship Church.
There will , be a Good Friday
'service at 10.0 a.m. Communion
will be observed atrthis time.
At 7.00 a.m. on Easter Sunday
there will be a Sunrise Service.
Anyone in the community is
welcome to join in this early
morning worship. Following the
service there will be a fellowship
breakfast in the basement of the
church. The regular Sunday
School and Church services will
follow. at the usual times - 10
o'clock and 11 o'clock a.m.
The Mennonite Conference of
Ontario has been in session
during the present weekend at
Rockway Schdoi at—Kitchener.
Representatives from the church
have been in attendance.
The text for Pastor Lawrence's
message on Sunday morning was
taken from John, "It is Finish-
ed".
DUNGANNON 14-H
Guest speaker for the fourth
meeting of Dungannon 1 4-H club
was Mr.' Bob Lyons, the reeve of
West. Wawanosh Township. The
Reformed Church monthly serv-
ice . was enjoyed by all.
In February the Brownies
visited and brought Valentine
table centres.
Some of the residents enjoyed a
ride to Ripley in the van one
sunny afternoon.
The Kinettes . came and played
cards and the Eastern Star had: a
large card party' and lunch. ,
The Christian Reformed Ladies
held a bingo on February 43 and
the Pentcostal Church from
Kinlough came for their monthly
visit brim February 16.
A very important anniversary
Helens Lively Six was held in the
St. Helens Hall on Wednesday,
March 8. Six members answered
the roll call, "A leisure -time
activity or interest I would like to
develop". We then read about
leisure activities. Mr. Ross Er-
rington came to talk about
photography and showed slides.
The girls . looked through a photo
album. Following this they dis-
cussed the leisure activities they
now have.
Mrs. Errington and' Mrs.
Weber checked the record books
and the girls discussed achieve-
ment 'day projects.
Crocheting will be taught by
the leaders at the next meeting,
March 15.

Mrs. Doris Culbert's 4-11 group
as visitors.
The topic for this meeting was
"People, Ideas, and Laws". Mr.
Lyons talked about the township
of West Wawanosh, how he got to
be reeve, what goes on at council
meetings and other interesting
facts. As he closed everyone
showed appreciation and Irene
Martin presented him with a gift
from the club. Judy Carmichael
read the minutes of the last
meeting.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Jean Erring-
ton on March 18.
DUNGANNON 3 4-11 '
Dungannon 3 4-H club chose
the name "Leisure Ladies" for
themselves from several suggest-
ed names, Quilting Bees, Craxy
Patches, Quilting Cuties,Busy
Bodies.
Patti Rising opened the meet-
ing.. Nine members answered the
roll call by telling what quilted
articles they had in their homes
and whether they were hand done
or machine made, pieced or
appliqued. Sharon Pollock read
the minutes of the last meeting.
The girls were told that since
tickets were not available, their
trip to see the Ice Capades is
cancelled.
Mrs. Alma Black, the leader,
discussed pointers for emotional
health. Joyce Dougherty asked
questions about the origin of 4-H
and the meaning of its emblem
and crest. The next meeting is to
be, held at Sandra Pentland's
home on March 13. Joyce
Dougherty closed the meeting. by
repeating the 4-H grace.
