Sincere sympathy of this com-

and relatives of Norman Cornel-
ius Foran of West Wawanosh who
passed away in the Wingham and
District Hospital on Saturday,
March 4 in -his 57th year. He is
survived by two sisters, Reverend
Sister Mary Cornelius and Rever-
end Sister Eileen, and four
brothers, John; Joseph, Leo and
Gordon and several nieces and
nephews.

Club Effective Speaking contest
held in Wingham on Tuesday,
February 28th. They each receiv-
ed cash gifts. Mary Luanne and
Tim will now advance to the
District Lions Club boys and girls
contest to be held sometime in
March.
There were 6 tables of cards in
play at the euchre party held in
St. Joseph's Parish Hall, Kings-
bridge following the Holy Hour on
Friday, March 3. Winners of the
prizes were, men's high, Michael
O'Neill; men's second high, Glen
Olson; ladies' high, Teresa Court-
ney. Ladies` second high was a tie
between Cathy VanDiepan and
Clarice Dalton with Clarice Dalton
winning the draw. There will be
two more euchre,parties held this
season.
Requiem Mass was celebrated
for Mr. John O'Neill in St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,
Kingsbridge on Tuesday, Febru-
ary 28 by the Reverend Father
Sheridan of Hamilton. Attending
the funeral from a distance were
Mrs. Dorothy Moore, .son Danny
and friend of Huntington, West
Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. Jim
O'Neill who have been spending
the: winter months at Satelite
Beach, Florida; Mr. and ,Mrs.
Charles Schindler, Marine City,
Michigan; Mrs. Joyce Middell,
Alginac, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Sinnett, Detroit, Michi-
gan.
Mr. Jim Sinnett, Chief Engin-
eer on the Paul H. Townsend
returned to the boat on Tuesday,
February 28.
Grade eight students were
guests at a dance sponsored by
the grade eight students of St.
Anthony's School in Kincardine
on Friday, March 3rd.
A large crowd attended the
benefit dance held at the Brook-
side School on Saturday, March
4th for' Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Menary who lost their house by

Goderich on Saturday, March 4 in
the Junior ,HighS'choal division..

Secondary. School; Wingham,
spoke on "The Holy Land".
Second place winner was Dan
MacKiegan representing the
Clinton Legion and a student from
the Central Huron Secondary
School, speaking on "School
Children and their Problems".
Third place 'was won by Darrell
Kloeze, R. R. 3 Goderich, a
student at the Goderich District
Collegiate Institute, representing
the Goderich Legion. Two other
contestants from the Clinton
Secondary, School and the Ripley
High School also participated. °
They were Heather MacDonald
and Frank Snell.
Winners in the senior division
were, first prize, Glenna Ellis,
representing the Blyth. Legion
and a student at the Central
Huron Secondary School, speak-
ing on "Alcohol"; second prize,
Marnie Walsh, representing the
Wingham Legion and a student at
the F. E. Madill Secondary
School, Wingham, speaking on
"Quebec Separation"; third prize
went to Helen Hartman, repres-
enting, the Clinton Legion,_ a
student at Central Huron Second-
ary School, .speaking on "Child

Abuse". Contestants received
cash gifts, and plaques , for
participating, presented by Com,.
missioner Harold Chambers and
Evelyn Carroll, Ladies' Auxiliary
Zone president.

the "Flea Tournament" held at
the Lucknow Arena on Saturday,
March 4.

VanDiepenbeek returned home
on, Saturday, March 4 following a
three week vacation in the sunny
south.
Mrs. Ormond Heffernan was
admitted to the Wingharn and
District Hospital on Sunday,
March 5. She had been visiting
with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Heffernan in Dublin during the
past week. Her many friends wish
Yvette a speedy recovery.'
Mr. and Mrs. Percy McClen-
aghan and family of Clinton
visited on Sunday, February 26
with her brother Michael and
Mrs. Courtney.

the World Day of Prayer services,
held at the St. Peter's Anglican
Church, Lucknow, the United
Church at Dungannon or at. St.
Peter's Roman Catholic Church in
Goderich, on Friday, March 3rd.
This year's theme was "Com-
munity Spirit in Modern Living".
• The final meeting of the grade
seven and eight excursion was
held .on Thursday, March 2nd .at
8.30 p:m. in the school. Joanne
Hamilton, Harold Zettler and
David Zyluk, outlined the final
plans for the three day - trip to
Ayton Outdoor Centre on March'
13 to March 15. The parents, who
again turned out in large number,
asked questions of clarification
and made suggestions. The
