Mrs. Don Reid then led the singing of the Queen and Grace to close the March meeting of the Purple Grove V.I. The home of Mrs. Lloyd Worthington in Ripley formed a lovely setting tfor the February meeting of the Ripley and District Horitucltural Society, with thirty- one ladies in attendance. Mrs. Ewan MacLean of Lochalsh and Mrs. Mervyn Hooey of Ripley conducted the business session. New members will receive a tuberous begonia bulb in the spring. The society plans to plant red, maple trees at Huron Villa, the schools, and civic buildings. This will be done by a local nursery- man. Mrs. Bas van der Hoek, accompaniedby Mrs. Ed Stewart, sang two beautiful solos. .Mrs. Charles Liddle of Ripley introduc- ed Mrs. Donald Blue, who gave a most interesting talk on her European trip last September. Margaret made it most enjoyable by relating some of the interest- ing and exciting experiences her group, had. Mrs. Ross Cumming thanked the hostess and all who had contributed in any way to the enjoyment of the afternoon. Mrs. Earl Lohnes, Mrs. Dun- can D. McLeod, Mrs. Reta Irwin,. and the hostess, Mrs. Lloyd Worthington, served a delicious lunch. The Historical Committee of the Senior Citizens met at the home of Mrs. Charles Liddle Sr. to discuss plans for `Book of. Old .Houses of Ripley". They set. a date line of September 1st, 1978, to have all histories to a committee member. The commit- tee is Mrs. Donald " Blue, Mrs. Wm. J. Arnold, Mrs. Violet MacKenzie, and Mrs. Charles Liddle, all of Ripley, and Mr, Norval Stewart of Olivet. ,A guide on the material wanted was drawn, up as follows - date of building, name of builder, people who resided in the house and facts about them, _and interesting events. They would like the names of the present and past owners and tenants traced if possible from deeds. Mrs. Nick Peet will take the needlepoint course if offered, Members will collect for the `Cancer Society in April. Mrs. John A. McDonald and Mrs. James Kirkpatrick sang "Galway Bay" and "Precious Moments" with Mrs. Gemmell at the piano. Mrs. Elwyn Pollock gave a reading. Mrs. Fran Elphick demonstrat- ed making ribbon roses and corsages. Mrs. John Wylds won a beautiful corsage for having a birthday closest to March 17th. * * * * * .r Mr. and. Mrs. Martin Pricaerts of Toronto visited. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gemmell. Mr. and Mrs. David King of Goderich and Miss Pam King of Belleville teaching staff, visited on Saturday with Mrs. Katherine Coiling and with Mr. and Mrs. John, Fludder and family. A Mrs. Betty Paquettesays that they wish. to remit d that the Figure Skating g dress rehearsal will be Thursday afternoon at four p.m. for both power and figure skaters. In the Consolation round, the "A" team fared better, winning over Mildmay 8.- 3. Gary Rutledge had 2. goals and 2 assists, Kevin Boyle 2 goals, Paul Keelan 1 goal and 1 assist, and. Danny Smeltzer, Shawn Morrison and Joe Nugent each scored once. Paul Harris'and Eric vander Glas made the assists. The Pee Wee "8" team tied Kincardine Forbes 5 .- 5. Mike, Nicholson from Steve Ball opened the scoring, then Forbes scored 5 `in a row. Ripley came back in the third period with .4 unanswered goals. Steve Ball unassisted, John van Kooten from Steve Ball, 'Danny ' MacDonald unassisted, and Mike Nicholson from John van Kooten. The Bantams played.
