arena on Saturday before losing
to Paisley 8 -• 3, Don Elliott was
the third. star of the .game.
Against Milverton in their first
game they took a 7 5 win and
Lucknow's Paul . Hamilton. was•
first. star and Randy .Guay was
third star of the game.
They went on to win against
Hensel 6.- 2 in their second game
and Lucknow's Steve Simpson
was , the game''s first star and
Danny Londry the second star.

Paisley .wins Ripley
Lions tournament
The second annual.Ripley Lions
Midget hockey tournament was
held on Saturday, January 28 at
tke Ripley and Huron Community
Centre with games starting at
8.00 a.m.. and involving teams,
from Lucknow, Paisley, Howick,
Belgrave, Blyth, Hensall, Milver-
ton and Ripley.
In the first game of the day,
Ripley defeated Belgrave 6-2.
Ripley goals were • scored by '
Jamie Gallant with 2, Jeff
MacTavish, Robin Stevenson,
.tick Irwin and Brian Lowry with
one each. Belgrave goals were
scored by David Pletch and Paul
Cook.
A new feature sof this year's
tournament was the presentation
of gold, silver and bronze
medallions to the three stars of
each game. In the first game
Jamie Gallant, Jeff' MacTavish
(Ripley) and Brad Cook (Bel -
grave) were the stars chosen.
' In the next game, the Paisley
Midgets shut out the Blyth .team
by a 5-0 score. Paisley goals were
scored by George Campbell, Dan
Hettrick, Bob Nelson,
Bill Rolston
and, , Ray Howard. Bill Rolston
tPaiisey), Steven Reid (Blyth) and.
Dan Hettrick (Paisley) were
selected as the stars of the game.
In game three, Lucknow down-
ed Milverton 7-5. The Lucknow
scorers were led, by Paul Hamil-
ton and Steven Davidson with 2
goals apiece and single counters
going to Pat :: Boyle, Steve
MacPherson and. Steve Simpson.
Milverton goals were scored by
Ton .Reis,. Carl ; Pauly, Keith
Reibeling, and Dick Bowman and
Randy Fink. The three stars were
Paul Hamilton (Lucknow), Tony
Reis (Milverton) and Randy Guay
m '(Lucknow).
Howick Midgets and Hensall
played the fourth game . with
Hensall winning 4-2. Grant Love
led the Hensall team with goals
and Kevin Bedard and Steve
Grainger the other scorers. Brian
Hastie and Brent Johnson replied
for ,Howick. Grant ' Love, Steve
Grainger (Hensall) and Brian
Hastie (Howick) . were the three
star choices.
In the first game of the
Juveniles
tie
Kincardine
The goaltenders were the
standouts in a wide open contest
between the Lucknow and Kin-
cardine Juveniles on, Sunday.
Scoring the goals for Lucknow
were Tom Sinnett with one goal
.and one assist; Rod. Simpson, 1
goal and 2 assists; Mark Frayne,
1 goal; Pat Murray, 1 goal; and
Jim VanOsch, 2 assists. The next
home game on February°5 will be
the last of the regular season.

The other semi-final of.. the
consolation round had Howick
defeat Milverton 3-2 in a very
close contest. Brian Hastie of
Howick scored the hat trick in this
game: Jeff Moorehead and Ted
Newman scored the Milverton
goals. -Brian., Hastie, Brent John-
son (Howick) and Jeff Moorehead
(Milverton) were the stars chos-
en-. ..
, The semi-finals of the cham-
pionship 'round started with
Paisley defeating Ripley 4-2. Dan
Hettrick scored two Paisley goals
and Carl Tanner and W?h son
McTeer scored the others.
Cameron scored both • Ripley
goals. Bill Rolston (Paisley), Jeff
MacTavish (Ripley) and Ken
Doucet (Paisley) received star
recognition in this game.
In the second game of • the
championship, semifinals, Luck -
now outscored Hensall 6-2. Luck -
now scorers were led by Steve
Simpson and Steve MacPherson
with 2 goals each. Kevin Clark
and Randy Guay also scored for
Lucknow.. Kerry Bedard scored
both Hensall goals and Steve
Simpson (t), Dan Londry (L) and
Kerry Bedard;, (H) were the three
star selections."
In the consolation final, Blyth .
got off • to a 5-0 lead and
eventually won the game 6-3 over
Howick. Greg -Hallam. and Steven
Reid each scored 2 goals with
Stephen Plunkett and Steven
Sierstma getting°the other scores.
Brent Johnson, Keith Angst .and
Mark Harding scored the Howick
goals, Greg Hallam and . Steve
Reid (Blyth) and Lee Griffin
(Howick) received the star medal-
lions for this game. Following the
game Blyth was presented with
the consolation trophy.
In the championship final,
Paisley eventually out -scored
Lucknow 8-3 after a very even
start to the game. Bill Rolston of
Paisley led the scorers with the
hat trick as. did Carl Tanner from
Paisley. Ray .Howard and George
:ampbell scored the other Paisley
oals. Paul Hamilton, Randy
Juay. and David Errington scored
for Lucknow. The ' three star
selections were Bill Rolston and
Ken Doucet of Paisley and Don
Elliott of Lucknow.. ,
Paisley was presented the
championship trophy after 'the -
game. Bill Rolston of Paisley was
named the most valuable player
of the tournament.
All the players of the winning
team (Paisley) werepresented
with small trophies and the
players of all teams were present-
ed with crests signifying their
participation in this year's tourna-
ment. -
Throughout the day the teams
played before "enthusiastic
crowd`
Lions Bob Scott, Ron Nicholson
and Mu ray Ferguson were the
main or anizers for the event
with, th other Lions members
helpinglout to fulfil the other
duties. The wives of the Lions
mem ers worked all day provid-
ing , elicious meals for the players
an any fans. who wanted to dine.
n conclusion a real thank you
to the fans who came out despite
threatening weather at times and
pupported the tournament now in
its second year.
