Cabinet confirms Bruce transmission line Energy Minister James Taylor today announced the• Ontario Cabinet has rejected the Interest- ed Citizens Group's proposal for a four-month study of an alterna- tive transmission line route from the Bruce Generating Station to Milton via Kitchener. , At the same time, Cabinet authorized Ontario Hydro to continue with, the acauisition of land and construction for the Bruce to Milton transmission line, Mr: Taylor said. Mr. Taylor had agreed to review their •proposal_ and, to discuss this matter with the Premier and Cabinet as a result of the meeting in his office of December 13, 1977, with the Interested Citizens Group (ICG). The cost penalties resulting from this •locked -in power. would mean higher elect- rical rate § for all consumers in ° Ontario. ; Cabinet has rejected the ICG's proposal and has reconfirmed its decision of May 29, 1974, that the Bruce transmission line should cross the Niagara Escarpment at ,Limehouse. Mr. Taylor also stated that he has reviewed the report prepared • by , Slater Energy Consultants Inc., commissioned by the Minist- ry of Energy to review Ontario Hydro's load flow and, transient stability studies which were .presented to the Solandt Commis- sion in 1973.
