The results of the cost-
ing analysis indicate that
"hoed on the, 1995/96 bud-
get for the district's eight
hospitals of $78.3 million:-
these
illionwthcsc options constitute a
range in potential operat-
ing sayings of between
1() 2 per cent and 17 n per
cent
A 17 M per cent savings
could he achlesed if inpa-
tient sc:rsices were to he
provided in Listowel,
Godertch. Sealorthvtnd
Stratford and nu other
institutional services were
pray tded vy tthin thcv dis-
trict.
A 10 2 per cent savings
could he achieved if inpa-
tient services were provid-
ed In Listowel, Goderich,
Seaforth, Stratford and
Wingham, and full ambu-
latory services (i.e. a pri-
mary hospital with no
beds) were located in
Clinton. Exeter and St.
Marr.

Capital cost esti metes
were also provided 1t r
each of the restructuring
options. The task force
toss informed of the base
capital costs that will he
required to maintain the
existing hospitals over the
next 10 years whether
restructuring takes place
or not. They then were
ink rmed of the additional
costs that will he required
to develop the sites as out-
lined in the restructuring
options (the true additional
capital cost of restructur-
ing). The additional capi-
tal costs related h) restruc-
turing range from 4.1 to
7.5 million dollars.
It was noted that the
difference between the
capital costs of the three
options - is not large
enough to constitute a
major consideration in
decision making for a
future hospital system.
