Miracle recorded
Grant Chisholm's
"Montreal Miracle" has
been chronicled in the
recently released Small
Miracles - rhe Extraord-
inary Stories of Ordinary
People Touched by God.
The book contains a
number of stories shared
with author Tom Sheridan,
a member of the editorial
board and columnist for
the Chicago Sun -Times
and a believer in miracles.
Over two years ago,
Sheridan asked for stories
"that told a special touch
of God that you felt and
recognized as a miracle."
Chisholm replied to
Sheridan telling him about
a medical condition he had
been diagnosed with, his
visit to Brother Andre's
church •in Montreal and
the subsequent findings of
medical specialists - the
condition had disappeared.
Chisholm's was one of
nearly 2000 replies from

Miracles. Another is from
a Goderich woman.
In the forward of the
book, Sheridan writes: "
Like the contributors who
experienced firsthand
God's astonishing, person-
al touch, you'll see the
miraculous revealed in
simple splendor - and dis-
cover new heights of trust,
praise, thanks and joy."

the scope of changes being
proposed by the govern-
ment. Education is just

Yenssen said in her inau-
gural address. "Rural resi-
dents are under attack.
They are in danger of los-
ing all they hold dear."
Yenssen said trustees
are "the voice of the chil-
dren", and advised the
board to take a stand on
provincial policies.
"We really feel the
quality of life for rural stu-
dents is in jeopardy with
some of these recommen-
dation," she said. Later,
Yenssen said that opinion
is shared by parents,
municipal politicians and
rural trustees who attended
a rural stakeholders meet-
ing on the Crombie rec-
ommendations for educa-
tion.
Yenssen called the past
year challenging but
rewarding as the Bruce
board formed partnerships
with other boards, the
county library system, the
new School -Community
Advisory Councils, and
volunteers.
Paraphrasing Winston
Churchill, Yenssen urged
trustees to "erbravely
forth to fight for students",
but made no specific men-
tion of the financial prob-
lems facing education.
