Peacemakers raise money
for identification bands
by Rebecca Snowden
and Terianne Young
We hope everyone had
a safe and happy
Halloween! There was a
Halloween dance last
Thursday in the gym for
Grades 6, 7, and 8. The
Peacemakers contributed
by selling popcorn for
.50 cents a bag. They're
trying to raise money for
armbands to wear while
they are on Peacemaker
duty on the playground.
With bright armbands,
they will be seen easily
when students want to
ask for their help.
Thank you to every-
one for their wonderful
UNICEF support.
UNICEF is a responsible
organization that helps
poor children throughout
the world; we're proud to
do our part to help.

Many schools today
have students with
peanut allergies, and
Brookside does also. An
allergy to peanuts is one
of the most serious aller-
gies. It ,includes peanuts,
peanut butter, and all
other foods containing
peanuts, even a foodthat
has been touched with a
knife that was used in
peanut butter first! When
contact with peanuts or
peanut products occurs,
the child's face and necit.
area will become covered
in red oumps or blotches.
The bumps or blotches
will look like hives or
spider bites.
Unfortunately they also
appear in the throat,
swelling it up so the
child can't breathe at all.
So please do not send
peanut related products
to school if possible:.
Brookside now has the
CU-SEEME computer
program and a tiny cam-
era that sits on top of a
computer. When it is
turned on, the camera
will let us see and talk to
people in other places
and they will also be able
to see us! We're planning
to use it as part of pro-
jects with students in
other countries all over
the world. We really do
have schools today with
walls as big as the world!

very well with ,244 par-

The purpose of this
night is, "An opportunity
for parents to discuss

parents just like to meet
the teachers and let them
know they are interested.
The teachers were very
busy, a good sign. ",

Elston.
'The next event of
