Moments
to
Remember
by A.L. Gardner
At sea, at midnight, our watch had been relieved
of duty. A kw feathery white clouds drifted lazily
overhead and a pale blue sky reached down to touch
the darker ocean blue. A full moon and a million
• stars shone down to decorate the surface of that
peaceful ocean. The patches of twinkling starlight
were like jewels of 'God's own crown and all that
broke the silence of the night was rolling foam
which tell from port ,and starboard bows as HMCS
Karnsack knifed her way along that path of yellow
rnelluw moonlight. It could have been our road to
Heaven.
Visible in the distance, the convoy ships were
also es.curted by, HM('S Eapa, Portage and
Battleford the other three ships (rI Escort (;roup

Many may have viewed that wonderful,
beautiful scene. 1t was one no painter's brush could
ever create. It was God's own and indeed a great
moment to remember.
Each November 11, we remember and honor all
service personnel who served and died for their
country. ,
The debt we owe to them can never be reim-
bursed, but during our mornents to remember we
can only hope through their realm of death that they
may have had the privilege to view the true crystal
light of God's own crown.
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders field the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
y
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, sow sunset glow;
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
1e) you from failing hands we throw
Me torch; he yours to hold it high..
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies.

Made trouble for concert company - What
appears to be a miscarriage of justice happened when
the bailiff 'from Chesley demanded $10 from the
pianist of the musical Eckardts which. had ,played in
Chesley the previous night. The young man had' bor-
rowed a wrench from a Chesley garage and forgot to
return the tool. The law officials agreed to take $6.00
in payment. We think the Chesley officials used poor
judgement in this case and were overly officious.
