This week, I'd like to share with you
two stories about what can happen to
curious cats. These ramblings will also
give you another indication of why it is
special to live in a small community.
The feline Sebastian lives in West
Wawanosh Township with the
Snowden family, Last week, Huron
Landscaping was doing some work
there and Sebastian for
some reason fell in love
with the truck. He insisted
on climbing into the truck
and the Huron
Landscaping crew kept
taking him out.
Later that day, someone
found a, cat in town and
took it to Lucknow Farm Supply, where
quite often you Call find pets looking
forasoml home.
Judi at Lucknow Farm Supply
agreed to keep the cat safe by placing it°,
in the large comfortable cage in -the
window hoping the.owner wouldsee it.
, By the .end of the day, the forlorn cat
had not been claimed so a lady, said4e
would see if she'tould find a honte for
it. ,
Judi then proceeded to phone Lisa at
Huron Landscaping to find out why she
hadn't brought her kittens in., Seems
like. Lisa' had a few too many little ones
and they needed good homes. Lisa said'
she forgot. Judi says not to worry, she
had a lost cat residing there for the day
anyway. The, two ladies got talking, and
one thing leads to another and they
deduced that the found cat was actually
Sebastian from West Wawanosh who it
seemed got a ,free ride to the 'city'.
Oh, oh! Sebastian has a new home..
What to do? As fate would have it,
Sebastian is returned in the morning.
The family decided they really
shouldn't have a cat.
Judi quiCkly phones Snowdens and
leaves a message' on the answering
machine about the whereabouts of
Sebastian. As she turns and looks out
the front window, guess who's looking
in. The Snowden girls and they are
looking jug a wee bit forlorn as they
see Sebastian inside the cage.
' Sebastian and Becky are reunited
and lives happily ever after.
Now young Bradley IvlacInytre's
Tiger is another feline who likes warm,
comfortable spots to curl 'up,
., Unbeknownst to him, loaded harWag-
ons do no always Sit stationary. SO
Tiger got a free ride to another barn in
the Holyrood area,
BradleY advertises his lost cat in• the 1.
Sentinel. No Tiger didn't read the ad.
Bradley's wise Grandma Macintyre
decides to check out the Holyrood barn
and goes equipped with some Of Tiger's
favorite food. Low and behold, look
who appears Tiger - a somewhat thin-
ner version after his week's escapade.
But now that he is safe with Bradley,
he'll surely fatten up in a hurry.
So, that's my happy column for this
week - the cats came back!
The big and the small of it! Mitch Martyn's friend was judged the
biggest, and Ashley Palmer's the smallest at the Chamber of
Commerce Teddy Bear parade last Saturday morning. (Livingston

hould see finished article t While the work on
Ludgard Street (better known as -Burns' Hill)
was luiderway, there was a good deal of criti-
cism as to the effect the excavating and filling would
have on,properties adjoining.
The work is now completed on this as well as on
Havelock Street, and the. Street Committee would
like that those who disapproved of the work should
inspect it now. '
Ludgard Street has been put in excellent condition
from Stauffer Street to Havelock and Opens up a
splendid way for traffic coining over the Holyrood
Gravel to Silverwoods and the CNR. Station.

Bolt kills horse, matt's' actions drew attention -
A three-year-old horse owned by Ed Gilmore of
Ashfield was killed by lightning during the severe
electrical storm last Friday afternoon. The horse was
in the pasture' field and its mate, by its actions,
attracted the attention of. Mr. Gilmore.
'After the horse was struck its mate lay down
beside it, but in a few minutes seemed to sense some-
thing was wrong and getting to its feet commenced to
whinny and circle its dead mate, until Mr. Gilmore
investigated and found out what had happened.

July no 1981 ,
uel of the sexes - It was the duel of the sexes
over a dish of ice cream. Patty Barger and.
Oa)* MacKenzie challenged IVIike Whitcroft
saying they could eat a super duper special faster than
he could. The duel took place July 14 at the Super
Scoop Ice Cream parlor. This time the male represen-
tative won, finishing his syrupy sweet first.
The timing is bad - With inflation running at an all-
time high; with just about everyone in the country
jumping mad at government's inability, to end the
post office strike; with the price of housing right
through the roof and interest rates at a staggering 21'
per cent for most borrowers - that's the time our
members.of parliament selected to vote themselves a
23 per cent raise. •
