Seven "years ago, Goderich became the site of the first Community Shared Carden in the province. With 'the 496 season fast approaching, Huron County. now boasts three such gardens, and more people are participating every day. Each year, garden members pay for a • share in the cost of granting a season's. worth of .vegetablesand herbs. In return they receive a wide variety of season farm -fresh produce well into the autumn. Storage crops are available throughout the winter, and some gar- dens supplementtheir vegetables with other produce, such as eggs, chicken and fruit. Best of all, garden members enjoy. substantial savings. Part shares are also available. Members may choose to take part in the casual garden gatherings,. like strawberry socials, corn roasts and hoe- downs.Some members enjoy helping in the fields, while others: swap recipes and gardening techniques, .Members simply set their own pace.
