The draft plan . 'so allows 50 -acre farms and sev- er:. ice of surplus farm dwellings as long as the rig - anal farm 1" t is not divided into more than two parcels. Another provision would eliminate the need for expensive and time-consuming secondary plans for new home development in hamlets, but denies the 'hamlet' statues to built-up areas along the lakeshore. The recommendation is to designate areas like Point Clark as 'Lakeshore .Devel, spment Areas'. The draft plan will be released t* council on June 10, with public meetings set for June 17 in Wiarton, June 20 in Walkerton, and June 27 in Underwood. Kincardine tax fee Kincardine's bylaw charging Bruce county a two per cent tax collection fee doe's not comply with provincial statues, according to Bruce county's finance committee chair Norm Annetts, who is also reeve of Kincardine. In a report to council, Annetts said the county expects Kincardine to make "full and complete pay- ment" of the county levy on the due date. So far there has been no hint of what action or penalty could follow if Kincardine goes ahead with its plan to hold back a tax collection fee. "The ball is in their court," said county adminis- trator Wayne Jamieson. The two school boards in Bruce have imposed a special levy, on Kincardine to recover the cost of the tax collection fee. "Unfortunately, this option is not available to counties," Annetts said in his report. Tourisme inquiries up Spring may have been slow this year, but business was brisk at the Bruce County Tourism Office. A »report to county council notes that inquiries in April were up about 25 per cent from the previous year. A review of the figures shows that the electronic marketing approach is an important one for tourism. About onedthird of the inquiries fielded by the office came from the. Internet and evening/weekend calls to the office's answering machine. A recent article in Photo Life about photography opportunities on the peninsula generated a number of inquiries to the tourism office, as has a London are publication that includes summer theatre listings from Bruce county. rx .w hf ufisJbvyr •f l 3:f5''W:x,tSC'• • •..
