ew building - The first step in the construc-
tion. of the new Silverwood building was
taken last week when Joe Scott of Ripleyhad
his new power -shovel in operation on the site. The
steep bank at the north of the location had to, be cut
back considerably to provide room for the new build-
ing which will be ,of brick construction and will
greatly enhance this corner and the main street in
general.
The new building replaces the frame structure
destroyed -by fire last fall, and since then teariponny
'quarters for the downtown buying station have been
in the former 0.11. Smith Office.
Guides plan trip - The First Lucknow Company
of Girl Guides is looking forward tot he, visit of Lady
*Baden-Powell, World Chief. Guide, to London on
IMO 7 when they hope to attend the rally in that •
city. .
-Showed 'em up - Gordon MacPherson and son
Bill, have been doing a hit of fishing this spring but
without much luck. It took Miss Isobel to show them
