In an effort to ¢`combat loneliness" of seniors in
this community, Branch 309 of the Royal Canadian
Legion,embarked upon a Dining :Out Program in
April.' field the first Wednesday ..of each month, the
program is of( to a roaring start with 60, turning out
for the first noon: dinner, and 80 last Wednesday.
If the,growing numbers are; Any indication the vol-
unteers, working ,under.the direction of Ed and June
Pyettc,. will have their work et out for them.
"It's great," said Bernice Johnstone, who was has
been at both dinners, "You don't have to prepare and
clean up and the sociability is wonderful. And there's
groat entertainment."
Anna Johnstone describes the program as 'super.
This is quite a thing for Iucknow; she added.
Betty Ritchie is 'another supporter of the program„
"It's a lovely meal, and I hope it .continues.. It's irn° err
taut'. for the ones who can't cook,' and it means at least
once a month ,you're .notsitting alone to eat your
luneh"
Entertainment last week was by Don Nicholson,
Ralph Weigel, Betty' O'Donnell and. Donna Crich.
Dining. Out, still in its initial stages, will now have
a theme every month. In June, it's crazy hat day. Wear
a� crazy hat or .June will find one for you when you
arrive. July will celebrate Canada Day so dig out your.
red and White clothing for your attire.
The d admission gets you a full coursedither
with dessert and beverage, followed by enter to nment.
