• Farmers, us we all know„

Stich is the case for a . pair of
rather well-known classical
musiciansin. the Mitchell area, ,a
pianist and a violat'vlolinplayer,
who have . been giving concerts
for the past ftiverandra.half
years. And they ,have no plans
of stopping, either.
The friendship -:of David.
Murray, of RR '2 Mitchell, . and
Domaik . Vranken, of RR l
Iullarton, has blossomed
despite. the less than ideal
expectationsboth had when;.
they inadvertently got together
almost six years ago.
Unfamiliar neighbors when
they first got together, it took
less than five minutes of -play-
ing alongside one another to
realize this was something to
behold,
They gave their first classical
concert in November of x.9907--
a needed challenge, they
dubbed it: ---entitled . "Cow
Meets Sow". Needing a legiti-
mate name to go by after their
successful performance, they
came up with "Cow-& Sow",
since Murray is a dairy farmer,
and Vranken is a pig fanner.`
"After the concert, t
when we came up with the
pid name, Vranken saki sine

seriousness
"People either like it or hate
tt,:" Murray added.
Vranken, 37„ saidit's rare
that farmers' can play'classicat
music, let alone enjoy it, and
after b to "pleasantly sur-
prised" at their cohesiveness
wouldlike to think they have
opened more thana few peo,
ple&s eyes to -the beauty of the.
music they play.
"It's almost like, how do we
get the farmers out of the .'
house?„" he continued, :z adding
that most stilldon't come• to
their performances which have
numbered almost, a dozen over"
the years from as far alvay as
Toronto, .t oudon and Hanover
as well as in the Mitchell area...
Their most recent concert.
was held .March 2 in. Stratford
as a fundraiser for the Children
of Chernobyl.
When word first spread of
their musical prowess, the duo,
was getting calls from all Over
. theregion asking them; to per-
form. They turned down mast
