Last Sunday's carnival, presented by the
Lucknow Skating ClLb, wwss indeed a Quantum
Leap.
From the youn ,est tot to the older, more exp-
rienceo' skaters, it was a time to show off what
they have learned since joining the skating club.
• it takes ngreat deal of time and a o L fromthe
'coaches, skaters and parents to put on such a
performance. Making costumes and props, set.
• ting up special ,lighting effects, choosing the
music and learning 'individual'nurnbers'takes'ded- .

workers - those making surethe performers have

their turn, the ticket takers - and the list goes on
and on.
It takes a. team effort to pull something like this

Whoever coined the
phrase "My whole life is on
my key chain' knew what
he/she was talking about.
That thought went
through my head last week
while I was driving. Beats
me why it did, but I 'started
thinking about how careful
we have become in this
society.It'snecessary to
lock everything up.
I carry two key, chains
with me - one in each pock-
' et of [yt` during -the
winter,• and when the better
weather is here they:can be
found somewhere in,my
purse. On those two.chains
I` have a total of 13` keys.
Inside my purse, carefully
stored away are another two,
keys . that : are` just as impor-
tant but ,because they are.
used very rarely it isn't nec-
essary to keep them close at
hand.
• Logically one could
think I' am nuts carrying that
many keys around. 1,
thought so too,, until 1 sat
down and tried to.'eliminate
some of the weight from my
pockets. No could do. 1
have two car keys - doors
and .ignition; three keys for.
various offices, three mail
box keys for different
boxes; a file cabinet; key;
two house keys . yes • they
'are for !different doors; and
two miscellaneous - in other
words I'm not Are what
they 'are for, but. they must
be important if X. put them
on the•.key chain. and no
doubt some . day I'll needthem. That may not be logi-
cal thinking, but 1 •never.
professed to being: logical
all the time!
I'm not the only illogical
one in; our household,. how
ever. In our junk drawer
(everybody has;one, don't
they?) there is'.a slew of
. keys.' We've been collecting
, them for 27 -years. At one
time they were immportant,
obviously, or we wouldn't
have them. But every time I.
clean the junk drawer and
attempt to throw thein out,
Mr. Pixit has a fit and back
they -go the :furthest recess
of the catch all.
I've become a slave to
my keys. The last thing I do
before leaving the house or
the .office is check to make
sure 1 have 'both key chains.
Y' guess 1 too am *one of
those who carries her lifeon
her key chains. There is one
key .I don't have to worry
about - :the key to my heart,
1 gave it away many years
agoand it's.alwas in safe
y
keeping.
