At the timeof its 90th Anniversary Celebrations FWIO started four scholarships of $500. each to enable its members to . continue higher education., In today's , economic := climate itis important that everyone be as skilled as they can be. Many Women's( Institute members have been updating their skills so they can compete in the job market today. When Judith Almond -Best of Madoc accepted her scholaiship, she especially .thanked herr branch, , Queensborough, because while she was doing all her studies many of the branch members had to fill in for her at meetings. In that way all her branch members are part of ha scholarship. Judith Almond -Best is studying at the University of Ottawa and the University of Waterloo to obtain credits towards her post RN BScN. At present she is working in Community Health but lack of a degree prevents her from being fully engaged as a Community health nurse. Family needs take priority so she can only work part tune towards her degree. • Jeanette Fleischer from Wyoming is working towards a General Arts and Science Certificate from Lambton College in Sarnia. She would like to work as a counsellor for abused women and children. Beverly Pickax) a member of the gordon Women's Institute is working towards becoming a Food . . Service Supervisor.
