Canada today warned parents and
caregivers about the potential risk
of children's hands and wrists being
cut by slap wrist bracelets.
Slap wrist bracekts, which are
approximately 22 ctnn : " long,
referable the horizontal blades of
venetian blinds, atnd We covered by
woven fabrie, plastic or papenr. '
Tests conducted by the
department indicate that, with time,
the bracelet's covering may tear or
come apart, exposing the wearer to
the sharpmetal edge underneath.
As a result, lacerations to the skin
can occur.
Parents and caregivers should
warn children of this hazard, 0114
should' examine the `bracelets fre-
quently torn .ensure the metal strip.
remains • Covered. If the metal is
exposed the. product should be
discarded immediately.
