Standing Tali program over
It's ihe last week of smother
freedom before all' the, kids head
back to school and summer
vacation officially ends. Hereat the
Musuem, the Standing Tall summer
children's program ended last week
On August 24. •
The kids in Southampton area and
Point Clark were treated to a sum-
mer of games, aafis, songs and
stories concerning the environment
and the way it affected the past and
could affect the future. The
Southampton 'mignon enjoyed great
success this year thanks to the
efforts of the untiring, enthusiastic
and well -organized team of Beth,
Rob, Ruth and Steve. The Musuem
staff is really going to miss the
summer program team. But who
knows maybe they'll be back next
year to k.W anether successful
program. Join us in wishing them
good luck in their studies for the
year ahead.
This is te last week that Needle
Art will be on exhibit in the '
Musuem's Extension Gallery. The
Southampton Art Society has. put
together a remarkable showing of
needle art done by people from the
Bruce County area. Some of the
pieces are over a hundred years old,
while others have been done more
recently. This show is available for
viewing Monday to Friday from
2:00 to 4:30 in the Musuem's Ex-
tensions Gallery.
September promises to be a hap-
pening month at the Musuein, Dar-
ryl Davies starts the month off with
his incredible showing of nature
photographs. His opening will be on
September 9 for those who would
like to meet this talented
photographer. His work will be on
display in the Extensions Gallery
Mad the end of September during
the regular Museum hours. Come
see the work of the man who has
exhibited his \ work in , die Chateau
Laurier in Ottawa.
Speaking of Ottawa, Musuem
staff and some of its members will
be off to the Capital of Canada for
four dityrin September to take in
Its many museums, galleries and
sites. The Ottavvaabowid group are
planning on touring the Museum of
Civilization .and other national
museums, visiting Parliament,
dining in a few of Oexcel-
lentttawa's eating establishments and doing
a bit • sightseeing along the
Rideau Canal:It is just one of the
many opportunities available to
those who support the Museum
through membership and interest.
Coming up in September on the
17, 19, and 21- from 6:00 to 9;00 itt
the evening is the second Floor
Cloths workshop taught by Carole
Cleary. The popularity of the
workshop that was offered in June
convinced us to bring it back a
second time and offer it in the
evening for those unable to par-
ticipate during the day. It is ad-
visable to register early for the
workshop. Call Marilyn at 797-3644
for more details on registration.
