Aicohl ban at .Falls Reserve The. Maitland Valley Conservation Authority "(MVCA) has moved to impose an alcohol ban at the Falls Reserve Con- servation Area' for the 1990 Victoria Day weekend. This action is being taken due to the growing noise and .rowdyism pro- blems that have been experienced on long weekends, particularly Victoria Day, over the. past several, years. "It was felt that the. ban was, the only way that the usually tranquil; family oriented atmosphere of this campground ' could be maintained on the Victoria Day weekend," said. Ken Westman, MVCA General Manager, The 100 -acre park, located along the Maitland River at Benm ller, is visited by about 25,000 campers and 12,000 day users annually. The Falls Reserve has 150 campsites and ' group camping facilities. " ` . Officers from the Ontario . Provincial Police will be on hand to help park staff enforcethe ban. Campers entering the° park' will be asked to turn over any alcohol they have in their possession,' to be returned when they leave the park. OPP Report: • front page l regarding the identity of these two children, please notify the Kincardine. , detachment at 3964341. A 1968, red and white, Ford pickup truck bearing licence number LZ3 200, owned by William Bushell of Kinloss Township, was stolen from his laneway late -April 28 to early April 29. The in vestigation continues. `' RIDE checks during the past weekend resulted in one person charged with. driving with over 0.8 blood/alcohol con- centration. Two drivers were issued 12 hour suspensions for . registering a "warn" on the roadside screening device. There were eight charges laid for liquor offences and one person was found to be driving without insurance on his vehicle. Driving : too fast was a major con- tributing factor in 51 per cent of all fatal motor vehicle accidents in-. vestigated by the OPP in 1989. With this in mind, the month of ' May 1990 has been : declared "Speeding . Slows You Down" month by police forces. of On- tario and the Insurance "Bureau of Canada. All available radar and manpower will be concentrated on this initiative in order to reduce the incidents of speeding and the resulting accidents. Violators should not expect any breaks, i.e. reduced charged speed. They should also be aware that the fine structure has been changed greatly increasing the penalty. The War Amps is a.
