prove. access for youth up to 25 years of
Age. An additional 4400,000 in finding will
go towards extenrMve program evaluation.

In November of 1969 'the government
announced a commutdty-based strategy to
reduce the illegal osis of dru a eOntario.

cidence and impact of illegal drug use,
efforts must be concentrated on reducing
demand through an emphasis on preven-
tion and education. Law enforcement and
treatment are other important com-
ponents of the stra
The recent 42 million in additional
' treatment funding, which will be used in
part to evaluate existingtreatment pro-
grams; will be helpful to determine the
most effective and efficient ways of
allocating treatment resources.
To .complement the funding, a
. 12 -member Treatment Advisory Commit-
tee has been established to examine ex-
isting methods of treatment for ` drug
abusers, look at treatment programs and
recommend future approaches. This com-
mittee is expected to present a report to
the Minister .this fall,.
• The Minister is committed to reducing
the illegal use of drugs in..Ontario and
ensuring effective programs in the future.

refer members of the public to physicians
who are taking new patient& Information
which can be provided, will include loca-
tion and type of practice, hospital afia-
tion, languages spoken, and gender.
