Last'ridar we each got a new reading buddy, They are talung usskating in March, as we have been doing such good work, and Mr. Ben- nett and Mrs, Bell and Mrs. MaeIntyre are proud of how well we are keeping our class rules. Grade 1/ February is Flietalshin month in grade one//two. We are trying our best to be a good friend to everyone in •ow class. Big Books that we have made on • Mercer Mayer, Inuits and Hundredths. Day are g home each night and be- ing shared with our families. A big thank you to Mrs. Knorr who designed the covers for us. . Super star helpers were Alicia Thacker'. and Chris Hackett, We have two birthday girls for the month of Feb. - Ellen Ilusk and Laura Sande.. Grade 2/3 • Grade two/three are very proud of Jayme. Jones and Ainsley Colwell for presenting their speeches: in the gym. Well done. We are busy learning .the value of money. Most of us can even add using money. We entered the Writing Contest in the Rural Voice and were thrilled to learn Alexis Sitarz tookthird prize and' Amy Blake - Honourable Mention. Grade 3/4 On Valentine's Day we listened to many interesting speeches in the gym. Rachael Bushell, Erin Eadie and Nick Mann represented the grade eights from our class. Our grade four representatives were Ean Moffat and Sherri McCracken. They all did a super job. During this past week we have been finishing up our "Friends" centres.. Grade four has been learning to divide and grade three is now regrouping with .a zero in the question, Our new environmental studies yunit is the study of Canada. Canada:Ve-fitst-braiiiStOrM4 ed to find all the things that we • knew about Canada. Now we are learning some ' new facts about our country. Grade 4/5 Grade four/five has beendreaming about spring this week because of all the beautiful weather we have .been having. Most of our class joined the newly form- • • ed hiking club and took a hike around town on Thursday and Friday. Because it was Heritage week, we stopped to look at different types of • architecture found around town. We were not aware of all the detailed gingerbread work on marry of the houses and the fancy windows in the different churches. Grade 5/6 Last week we did a unit on birds of prey and everybody did well. We started a dinosaurs unit on Tuesday. The speeches were last week on Wednesday and four people from our class went on. stage. Shelly Johnston made it to the finals and will be going to the Legion on February 23. The other speakers did well, too. Grade 6/7 Grade six/seven along with writing tests are involved in noon hour activities such as ping-pong, hiking, chess and try- ing out for the school's basketball teams. Grade seven completed posters showing tools, weapons and homes of six Nature Study groups. Grade 7/8 The grade seven/eight students that ' went skiing at Talisman last week en- joyed the learning experience.
