The Lucknow Women's Institute met in
the Town Hall on February 13 with Grace.

In the absence of the president Dorothy
Brown, Mary MacGillivraY chaired the
business section of the meeting. The
minutes of the last meeting were read
and adopted. The rollcall was answered•
by naming the birthplace of our
grandparents.
Marian McFarlane spoke about the
Food Bank which has been established
recently. - .
Grace Gibson gave the motto, Let us
build the future as our grandparents built
it. She referred, to the present environ-
ment and ways we should recycle.
Readings were given by Rita Gilmore
and Alice Taylor followed by a sing song
pertaining to Valentine's Day.
Joan Pollard of MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, gave
an interesting talk on pre -arranged
funerals and some of the customs about
funeraLs.

visited on the weekend with his mother,
Lulu Stanley, as he had brought a truck
load of cattle from the west. On Sunday
he and -bis mother visited Doug and Rita
Stanley at Harriston and R.J. and Eileen
Kaake at Walkerton.
There were seven, tables of shoot and
five tables of bridge played* knit week's
•card party at the Drop In Cadre. HIgh
lady was Donald Moffat, high man Jake
Conley, low lady Mary Laois, low man,
Herb McQuillin. Ruth Conley was the
winner ,of the most shoots.

is the 4900 Charity of the Junior
FarmersAssociation of Ontario (J -FAO).
Junior Farmer members and clubs
across the province will be raising funds
for the „AALP to be pomaded at the Pro-
vincial Conference of the RAO 'larch
16-111 in Barrie.
The objectives of the AALP is to: in-
crease their awareness of Ontario's
agricultural in relation to the tui-
tional and international community; ez-
par4 their understanding of the Canadian
economic, political, cultural and social
system; broaden their politica, cultural
and social system; broaden their pewee-
tivee on the major isaues facing -society;
and develop th* abilities to analyze and
react to the complex problems facing

free telephone number for their
Information -Referral Service. Individuals
from across Ontario can access the ser-
vice directly by calling 1400-267-7329,
The information unit prides informa-
tion on programs and services available
from various levels of government It
also produces a number of publications,
including:

The 1989 Home Buyers' Guide is now
available through the Ontario New.Home
Warranty Program
The Guide is an important effort in
consumer protection, as it lists every
registered builder in Ontario, indicating
those who are excellent, above-average,
average and below-average in their after-

sales service. The idea is for people to
examine a builder's rating in the Guide,
doing further checks of the builder's
reputation, and eventually purchasing a
new home from a builder they can trust
to provide good after-sales service.
The Warranty Program's mandate is to
educate and inform homebuyers and
potential buyers of .their rights and
responsibilitie,s.
Several publications are available free
of charge, including "What Every New
Heine Buyer "Should Know" and "Base-

RIDING GRANTS
The Attorney General's office has ad-
vised that Seaforth District High School
will receive a grant in the amount of $755.
to assist in the promotion of their "Ar-
rive Alive" program.
Grants are forthcoming from the
Ministry of Culture and Communications
to two groups in the riding, The Town of
Wingham will receive $929.50 from the
Preserving Ontario's Architecture Pro-
gram for a building. on Patrick Street;
The Huron Branch of the Ontario
Genealogical Society will receive $198 t�
