HURON COUNTY WASTE MANAGEMENT MASTER PLAN Notice . of Public Meeting +V and Open House The Waste Management Master Plan Stage 2A Preliminary Report (Identification of Potential Areas and Markets) is now available for public review. The Stage 2A Preliminary Report in- cludes constraint maps for Huron County; identifying areas which are suitable for further investigation as potential landfill site areas. The Report also discusses markets for recycled materials, outlines possibilities for future waste management administra- tion, and discusses tentative considerations with respect to the appropriate components of a waste management "' system for Huron County. Ere Whon Theatre of Canada paid a visit to Brookside Public School last . week. Students and teachers alike gave their full attention to the stunning performance of Jorden Kerner and Kim Leger of Toronto, who performed the story, James and the Giant Peach. (Pat. Livingston photo) Brookside students From the Principal's Desk Mr. Whiteley •–•• • Mother Nature failed to cooperate with our snow day and it had to be postpon ed despite a great 'deal of disappointment by all. We hope to have it before the end ' of February. • Our' skipping clubs are working very well and we hope to have The Huron Hearts. Skipping Team come out to demonstrate on February 27. There has been a -great deal going on in our classrooms as well. Each of us has been practising for aublic speaking assignment, our older pups are prepar- ing for science fair, and ,we have prepared .for and enjoyed all the ac= tivities related toy our 100th day at school. Did you know we have 34 new boys and.• girls planning to attend our school next year? Kindergarten registration is a Mon- day February. 26. It too promises to be a busy day. Mrs. Cameron, Grade K1 Valentine's Day was lots .of fun. We made cards, envelopes and lots of hearts. . In number work we are learning about longer and shorter. We are excited that we have snow again! Miss Watt Grade 1 • Valentine's day was full of love and . sharing. We had fun with our party and we exchanged lots of valentines.. We are doing a Valentine's unit and we are , almost finished - how exciting! Roses are -red, violets are blue, we know many. Valentine words, how about you! Miss Mathers Grade 1/2 Miss Mathers class has been busy rotating through Valentine's Day centres . .....,and their classroom is full of heart crea- tions. Wei had a wonderful Valentine's Day and hope you spread lots, of warm fuzzies to your friends, too. Miss Morton, Grade 3 We took a brief All Star break and will resume next week. Our Valentine's Day celebrations were very successful. Some never did figure out whom their cards were from. Thank you to all students who brought special treats for our party. Another thank -you to Mrs. .Clarke for reading James and the Giant Peach to us. We are, looking forward to the Erehwon theatre production of James. Mr. Yeo, Grade 3/4 February is a busy month • for our Grade fours. Over half of them have bir- thdays to celebrate. Parties, cake and ice cream are a frequent event. On Tuesday February 13 the class celebrated the 100th day of school with Mrs. Scott's class. Collections of 100 busy BROOKSIDE BROADCAST items were shared. The toothpick 'collec- tion didn't need a large container, while the collection of 100 lego blocks was much larger. Activities of walking 100 steps, measuring the length of 100 things or guessing what 100 things, would fit in a box were fun! For Valentine's Day the pupils chose the name of someone. They were to make a lunch for this person and decorate this special meal. The lunches were packed so full, it took half an hour to eat them. Some even had puzzles and mazes, to complete.. . Mrs; Worsen, Grade 5 We' would like to welcome Jassie Dhaliwal back after her trip to India. She gave a very interesting class presentation about her trip. We enjoyed looking at the money and the souvenirs that she' brought back. : '. Mr. Meyers,` Grade 7 ' At this moment Mr. Meyers' class has started algebra in math. We have just finished speeches. We are working hard on Science Projects. We are looking at earthquakes in Geography. In History we had a test. Mrs. Graham, Grade 7/8& This week Mrs. Graham cleaned the science blackboard. This week in Math we had a test then we had a re -test. In French we are having a test. We are do- ing speeches this week. Next Monday we are doing speeches in the gym. We just - finished a history essay. In geography we are having a test on earthquakes. Mr. Hazlitt, Grade 8 In home ec we are making pot holders. Also this week we have had a History, Geography, English and French test. In gym we started basketball. Mrs. Clarke - Library Hats off to grade eight students for their excellent work on major history essay No. 2. Mrs: Hazlitt's grade eight history classes have worked on making file card research notes about the Con- federation period. Notes were then put in- to a research essay. Great introduction and conclusion paragraphs too — Well done, grade eight! Mrs. Clarke came back from the Ontario School Library Association conference with lots of new ideas.
