Falconers host card party Mr0 and Mrs. hngus Falconer lxosted the village card party last Tuesday night with four= in play. The next orae la February 27 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Slimmest. Anyone in the village is invited to attend. Norma Rintoul returned home last weekend after spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Gorond Campbell and Heather of Ancaster. The Whitechurch Women's Institute held their February meeting on the 14th in the home of Catherine Wilson of Wingham, This was the Agricultural meeting with Mrs. Wilson as convener, The meting with with the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and Lords' Prayer. President Marjorie Wall gave a reading called Love One And Other. Agnes Far- rier read the minutes of the last meeting and a thank you letter was read from the Ministry of Natural Resources. A workshop is planned for March 1, 8 and 15 in Paisley on Leadership in Volun- tary Endeavour. The rollcall, name a famous person born on a farm, was answered by 12 members and eight visitors. Mrs. Wilson gave the motto, Every life we touch is a field, all we do or say are seeds. What will theharvest be? Mrs. Wilson ` introduced the guest speaker Yvonne Ballagh of Wingham. She was dressed up like a farmer and gave a humorous reading on farming, then she gave a very interesting talk -on attitude. She said life can be tough if we let it, A good attitude can keep your going, never give up. She was thanked by. Norma Rin- ' toul in-'toul and presented with an envelope. A Valentine contest was conduccted. by Mrs. Wilson with Helen Currie and Jean Roas ' as winners. A committee of Jean Tiffin, Jean Ross, Norma Rantoul, Catherine Wilson and Gertrude lunula will arrange a card par- ty in the spring. Following the Closing of• the meeting. Mrs. Farrier, Mrs. Tiffin and Mrs. Wilson served lunch. The next meeting will be held at the home of Merle Wilson on March 14. Whitechurch UCW The Whitechurch United Church Women met on February 9 at the home of Rev. and Mrs. John Neilson at Turn- berry Estates. The topic was World Outreach with Agnes Farrier and Hazel Laidlaw as leaders. Mrs. Farrier gave . the call to worship with a reading called Closed Hand. Mrs. Laidlaw read the scripture from Gen. chapter 15 and discussed the chapter. Rev. Neilson showed a video called "Choose You This Dy, telling of problems of black people of South Africa. Mrs. Laidlaw led in prayer. The offering and Least Coin were. r ' ed and . Mrs. Farrier gave the offer - tor prayer. Hymns were sung thr a meeting and Mrs. Farrier gave an African prayer. Mary Chapman read the December minutes and Evelyn Gibb gave the financial report. Ten answered the rollcall by telling how we can help Canada to have blue skies and green grass. Mrs. Farrier read', thank you .notes from Fred Victor Mission, Five Oakes and Friendship House in Goderich, . and a letter from Alma College asking for a donation as well as the UCW for a refugee family donation. Mrs. Farrier thanked the hostess and Rev. Neilson closed with prayer. Port Albert 4-11 Port Albert 441 Club held their first meeting on February 8 in Kingsbridge. Church Hall. Parents were invited to at- tend the demonstration of bread making and kneading. Everyone got. to try- their hand at kneading. The dough was baked into bread and buns and sampled along with one of the butter • recipes. A loaf of bread, donated by -Yvonne Sinnett, was put to the taste test and members had to judge which was. their choice, with Yvonne Sinnett's getting the most votes. Leaders are Donna Hayden and Betty Lou Dalton.. The club appreciates the sponsorship of Dungannon Women's Institute: The second and " third Meetings were held on February 17 in the church hall. All members made their own bread and got to take it home. The next meeting is March 3 in the church hall at Kingsbridge. •M NEWS Trinity Tender Twists On .February 14 our 4-H club met at the home of Hazel Hackett. We decided on a name for our group. We are called the Trinity Tender Twists. We made French bread and tried some. We also did .a quiz sheet on all the things we learned last meeting. Karishea Doughnuts The Karishea Doughnuts had two meetings in the last two weeks. Both times at deBoer's. The club has gained four new members, Miriam deBoer, Sarah deBoer, Kerrie Skillen and Abby Knorr: The president is Barbara Stein, vice is Alesha Moffat, secretary is Connie McBride and press reporter will rotate. - We made twist loaf and fancy butters for the first meeting.' During the second meeting we made rye buns, french bread, multi grain bread and white bread. The results were great.
