Lois Walden, leader, presid- ed and opened With a verse with Love anda call to worship on Love. The open- ing hymn was sung with Evelyn Cook as the pianist. - The theme of .the meeting was Love and Kindness. The scripture was read by Allene Bradley with' choke') Bible verses with Love. The meditation on Love was capably taken by Evelyn Cook. She also gave the prayer. The meditation on Kindness was given by Laura Hare, followed with a verse in Kindness. Mrs. McFarlane, told us that there is to be a Food Bank started in the church. Nine ladies answered the rollcall with a Bible verse with Lovrand the payment of membership. The birthday jar was passed,. and the collection of the Least Coin was gathered and regular offering taken, dedicated by Lois Walden. The an- nouncements were given by Lois. We closed the meeting with the U.C.W.. Benediction. UNIT '-Unit 2 of the Lucknow United church women met in .the church parlour February 6 with an attendance of 14, Phyllis Morrison, unit leader opened the meetingwith a poem, Welcoming. The hymn Wonderful Love was sung, with Elsie Houston at the piano. Roll call was payment of fees. The envelope offering was received an dedicated by the unit leader. The Fellowship of the Least Coin was presented by .11ein Lane*, with all repeating the prayer in unison. The treasurer's report was given by Isobel Miller. During the business Marion McFarlane said a small food bank wffl be started at the "church in room one. Single mothers will be in the church every Monday mor- ning weekly for a time of fellowship and discussion. For fund raising projects. It was decided to have the birthday jar, . mystery jar, and over and above $5.00 donation, also a travelling basket, which should be interesting; • World Day of Prayer. will be held in the Ludo** Presbyterian" church March 2. Bruce Presbyterial will be held in Palmerston March 5. For more informs - tion contact the UCW president Laura Lee Cayley. A bus will be going will be going froth this area. Our Spring Thankoffering will be held April 22. The program was in charge of Mary MaeGillivary' opening with a poem Love is Love. Mary read the scripture, with the meditation and prayer by Lois Goodhue. Elsie Houston and Mary • MaeGillivary contributed a duet "Love the piano. Jean Janson had a reading "Friendly Smiles I gave Away"; Marion McFarlane had a contest "The Farmer", you had to know your alphabet. Love Divine was the closing hymn, and ,the unit leader lead in the benediction prayer, as printed on our programs to close the meeting. Unit 3 ' Unit Lucknow 'United' Church Women net on Tuesday, February 6 with an attendance of 17. The rollcall was answered with an act of kindness given or received. Wlth the theme multiculturalism, the, meeting was opened with a poem. Scrip- ture was read by Bernadean Ritchie and she also led in Prayers of the People. The topic was introduced by Norma Weatherhead, commencing with a quiz on the number of Ethnic churches across Canada under the umbrella of the United Church with Toronto having the greatest. number. She also dealt with the Bud- dhism faith and conducted a quiz on • • Festivals.- • Joan Martin discussed the Ethnic faiths and the objectives of. interfaith dialogue. To understand people of, other faiths we should listen and learn, recognizing that not all truth belongs to us. We should . then re=exanine our own faith and prac- tices to challenge our traditional understanding of God, Mrs. Martin dos- ed with prayer. Fellowship of the Least Coin was con- ducted by Mary Finlay on, a Voice from Jugoslavia, closing with prayer.
