Our community was shocked to hear of
the death! of Mrs. Art Baker of Kincar.

B. Hodgkinson (our village am tty) and
was .first mauled to Wiliam Bushell and
they resided in Goderidt. She had one
sen Ronald who still lives there. After
her husband's peeling she moved;to
cardineth later married Art Baker.
Beth was the last member of the
family and was predeceased
by her parents and two sisters, (Tillie)
Mrs. Gerald McIvos; (Greta) Mrs. Wes
White; and two brothers Wilbert and
Joseph Hodgkinson. We extend sympathy
to her son Ronald Bushell and to her
sister-in-law Grace Hodgkinson of
Cheri visited with Tara
Thacker also Heather Woods.
Largaret McInnis and daughter Karen
of Teeswater and Diane Dore' of -Kit-
chener were recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald. Rhody. •
Merle • Rhody canvassed our village for
the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christensen
were guests at a wedding on Saturday
morning in Mississauga.
There was a nice bridal shower•held'in
the Pentecostal Church fellowship room
on Friday evening for 'Linda Scheurwater..
The room Was nicely decorated for the
occasion. Games were played and the
Junior girls presented the gifts and Lin-
da made a fitting reply and refreshments
were served.

On Friday evening the Lueknow Fire
Department answered a call to the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Theriault (the
former Kinlough School) when a bad
chimney fire was soon brought under
control.

The Holyrood Woolens institute met on
Thursday afternoon at the home of Edna
and May Boyle. The president Betty
Smith welcomed everyone and all joined
in singing the Institute Ode and repeating
the Mary Stewart •collect.
As this was the health meeting we
were privileged to have Sharon
Creighton health nurse , speak to us, She
was most interesting in her pleasing
manner and talked on maty things about
our general health; How to take care of
ourselves and the proper diet that we
should follow. Cholesterol being a major
problem today she explained ways to
help, and also ansrwered many questions
that the members were interested in and
• pamphlets were given out. Betty Bushell
thanked Sharon and presented her with a .
gift .in appreciation.
Betty Johnston was the director and
Wilma Elliott gave a nice reading on
Caring for the Aged,
A homemade Valentine was the contest
and our guest . was the judge from a
number of lovely valentines, Edna Boyle
won the prise.,
Charlene McEwan read 'the minutes
and treasurer's report' and the com-
munications: One from the FWIO'presi--
dent; A Logo Contest for, the' 100th W.I.
Anniversary; a three day -conference at
Carleton University and a Workshop in
Landscaping. A donation was made to the
Childrens hospital in London.

We are glad to learn that George
McLean is back home from Kincardine
Hospital this past week.

around, no sunshine, no shadows for
February 2. It is bound to be winter, any

Legion Hall in Ripley on January 29 with

John Gamble will be conducting his
Heritage Tour again this year as part of
the Winter Carnival in Ripley. Teams of
horses will take you, around Ripley starting
at 10 a.m. Saturday,,. Feb. 10.
• TheRipley Seniors Happy Hearts Club
are holding their monthly meeting in the
Legion Hall on Friday, FEb. 9 at 2 p.m.
The men are putting on the program and
the guest speaker will be Andy Burgess,
an Ontario. Provincial Policeman from the
Kincardine detachment: Anyone is
welcome.

are now available. .
The Guide to Weed Control replaces the
1989- guide while a supplement is being
issued for the Field Crop Recomenda-
tions.
The supplement does not replace •
the Field Crop Recomendations but pro-
vides an update on varieties and
pesticides.
Both publications may be picked up at
the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food office in Clinton.
