Grade Ones enjoy using new computers
Grade 1
Grade one have enjoyed using the New
Icon computers this week. We have also
been practicing every day for our part of
the Christmas Assembly. On Thursday, we
made pictures and wrote letters to Santa to
put in the Sentinel.
We made "Special Me" books for Chris
Young and Michelle Kuntz. We all gave
Mrs. Bell birthday spanks on Friday. Now
we are waiting for our report cards on
Monday!
Grade 1 & 2
We have completed our Canada Unit this
week. It was decided that Canada was a
fine country to live in and that we are
lucky to be Canadian children.
We wish Mike Beynen the best of luck in
his new school in Clinton. He will be miss-
ed by his Grade one and two friends.

the library. We have started a new unit on
Detectives in Reading class and have
found out that everyone's finger -prints are
different. In Health class we are doing a
fitness and are learning how to take so-
meone's pulse. All Mr. Dennis's students
are to be congratulated for reading the re-
quired number of books for the "Partners
in Excellence" program.
Grade 5
This week in Grade 5 some of us brought
in some of our "Baby Antiques". Our
multiplication is almost rapped up and is
going o.k. In ourCreative Writing we are
writing about some kind of magic liquid
"Professor Pete" dropped in our hands.
We are starting our Environment Studies
on "China". We are starting to get some
ideas for our Christmas Play, and it is
coming along really well.
Grade 6
When we went to the outdoor Education
Centre, we slept in dormatories. Each
room had at least two beds. There was a
dining room and two classrooms: In
classroom no. 1 we learned about the
`weather and how to record it. In classroom
no.' 2 we made candles (dipped them) ,
spun wool to make yarn, and wove to make
rugs. Out in the barn we made wooden
shingles, sawed a log with a two-man saw,
made wooden pegs and wove a strong
rope.
The first night we went on a night hike
through the fields. The second right we
played games in the barn.
On the third day we went to Spirit Rocks
and the Bruce Caves in the morning.
After lunch we left for home. Overall we
had a great time. We hope to go there
again next year.
Grade 7
Calculators have been the order of the
day this week in Mathematics. Both the
grade 7's and the grade 8's are involved in
Complex geometry work where copious
calculations are involved. Thank goodness
that we have the tools to make activities
such as these easier.
Our skipping club is developing at a
staggering pace. They are now preparing
routines in order to present them to our
school at Christmas.
Grade 8
Grade 8 is enjoying the novel "Brothers
By Choice". This novel study is presented
by TVO and is being watched on video. We
are taking an indepth look at the character
and plot development of the story.
We are all enjoying the Icon Computers
and some of us are doing `amazing' and in-
teresting activities on them.
Special Education Class
The special education class is worklri.
on decorative wall plaques for Christmas
They are planning to display their ('rat t
work next week.

been recycling old clothes into new anti
useful items. Sweat bands and ponytail
decorations were created from the bands
of socks. -

sized blouses from workshirts. Dying ant:
bleaching were favourites with the Ripie%
students.
