The Lucknow Bantams opened their
season of hockey with two fast skating,
hard played, close games last week. While
the team played extremely well, they un-
fortunately came up on the short end of the
score board in both contests.
Teeswater 6 - Lucknow 5
Just eight seconds into the. new season,
Lucknow's Brad Murray scored his team's
first goal of the year. Murray took the puck
from the face-off and beat the startled
goalie with a powerful shot that found the
mark between the pads.
Murray's line of Rod Crich and Donnie
Gammie skated well together and clicked
for a total of four of Lucknow's five goals
on the night. The other goal came from
defenseman Jamie Johnston on a rocket
from the blueline. Johnston was fed by
Dale Priestup.
The balance of the team showed some
good moves and lots of hustle, but also
showed that they'll need a little more ice
time with their new linemates to get on
track.
Tiverton 6 - Lucknow 5
On Friday night, back in Lucknow, the
Bantams played a stronger game and out -
shot their opponents in a losing effort.
The home team was victimized by some
unusual goals as blueline floaters and hop-
ping pucks found their way, into the net.
The line of Murray, Gammie and Crich
again accounted for the bulk of the
scoring.
So the season is underway and the boys
have a lot of work to do while having fun
and developing a team spirit.
The Lucknow Pee Wee A's opened the
current hockey season with a big win
against Ripley last Friday night in
Lucknow. While the Lucknow team ac-
cumulated 16 minutes in penalties during
the contest, they still managed 8 goals to
Ripley's 4.
Mathew Sproul opened the scoring for
the season with an assist from Rob Crich.
The second goal of the nioght came just 51
seconds later when Clint Murray scored -
assisted by Steve Porter and Matt
Drennan.
Vince Sticklend opened the second
period of play with a tally assisted by.Matt
Sproul. The fourth goal for the home team
came from the stick of Justin Murray with
Chris Stevenson drawing the helper. Vince
Sticklend got his name On the game sheet
again when he netted a goal with help from
Warren Andrew and Terry Stanley.
The prettiest goal on the night came
when Darryl Gibson found the mark
unassisted. Chris Stevenson accounted for
the seventh and eighth goals. Chris Hum-
phrey and Justin Murray assisted.
With the first win of the season under
their belts now, the Lucknow Pee Wee A's
are looking forward to an exciting season
of hockey. The team would -like to welcome
Doug Stevenson and Greg Hamilton to the
coaching staff this year and wish them
good luck for the coming season.

felt honoured when Mr. Pike announced
that they were chosen "Class of the

Grade 3/4
Grade 3/4 had a "visitor from outer
space" come to our classroom. We were
pretending to be reporters who had an ex-
clusive with this space "creature".
In Health class we finished up our unit on
safety and are now doing safety poster for
a poster contest we are having in our
classroom.
We enjoyed the Remembrance Day ser-
vice at the Presbyterian Church and the
placing of the wreaths at the Cenotaph.
We are playing Beach Ball Volleyball in
Physed. and think it is lots of fun.

Canada. We are also learning how to
multiply in math. Last Friday we had ter-
rifying math test. This Friday we are go-
ing to have a test on Canada.
LCPC

this week. In math we have mostly under-
taken two digit numbers. All is progress-
ing very well! Environmental Studies sees
us working at centers in groups looking at
nature's symbols and crests. Weare work-
ing well and efficiently so we do not fall
behind. Our stories • are progressing ex-
tremely well. We look forward to seeing
the finished product.
Grade Six
Many of the grade 6's attended the
Remembrance Day service at the
Lucknow cenotaph on Wed. Nov. 11, 1987.
Next week the grade 6's are going for a trip
to the Outdoor Education Center in Wiar-
ton. On Monday we are preparing for a
french test.

Mr. Mckeon's grade 8's are beginning to
plan, write, act and produce some T.V.
productions. This experience we hope will
enable us to view this media with a greater
awareness. The skipping club is in full
flight now. Club members are progressing
rapidly. Soon we will be able to do a great
variety of movements.
Grade Eight
Volleyball has started at Lucknow Cen-
tral. We are going to be starting our prac-
tices soon. The first practice for the boys is
Tuesday at lunch hour and the girls on
Monday after school from 3:3Q to quarter
to 5:00. Some of our classmates par-
ticipated in the band. They played for the
Remembrance Day service. Mother
Nature was really nice to us this year. It
didn't rain or snow. Over all it was a very
good day.
- Kindergarten
We had a busy time this week. We have
learned how different animals prepare for
the winter and have learned some songs
and verses -about these animals.
