Council approves tractor pull
Kinloss Township Council passed a mo-
tion authorizing, the Lucknow Tractor Pull
Association to hold their annual tractor
pull at the regular council meeting on May
4.
The tractor pull will be held at the
Kinloss Park on July 11 and 12 with the
Lucknow Lions Club authorized to apply to
the LLBO for a communty festival permit.
The township will . close the township ex-
tention of Havelock Street on the two days
during the hours of the tractor pull, with
the understanding that the roadway be
kept open for emergency use.
In other business, a special meeting of
council was called on April 20 with the road
superintendent instructed to call for quota-
tions on corrugated metal pipe re-
quirements for 1987.and also to call for
tenders for routing and sealing approx-
imately 3,000 metres of cracks in the
Whitechurch road on onthe second conces-
sion. Quotes and tenders are to be in to the
township office by May 19 at 5 p.m.
A bylaw authorizing the sale of the
Township (Holyrood) Hall was passed by
council.
Tenders were accepted for a caretaker
for the former Kinloss Public School from
Barbara Gingrich at the rate of $6.50 per
hour. Allan Miller was awarded the tender
for issuing dog licences in the township at
a price of $1.75 per dog plus re -calls. The
tender for cutting grass at the former
Kinloss school went to Steve Eadie at a
rate of $25 per hour.
Building permit applications were ac-
cepted for Ray Buckmeier to erect a roof
on an existing pit silo and for Robert E.
Wynne to extend an existing drive shed.
General accounts for $75,798.02 and road
accounts for $15,007.20 were approved by
council.

The road superintendent was authorized
by council to advertise for tenders for the
application of approximately 25,000 cubic
yards of pit run gravel for construction on
Concession 2 in 1987.
Council -members examined the revised
set of plans for the Inglis Pit, prepared and
submitted by Garth Noecker and K. Smart
and Associates of Kitchener. The study
was made necessary by the purchase of 10
more acres of land adjacent to the original
pit site.

Council made no comment on the revis-
ed plans.
Council recommended that consent not
be given to the application of R.G. Hanna
to sever 130 acres from his farm property
and retain 18 acres along the river bank.
A bylaw was passed by council authoriz-
ing the borrowing of $300,000 from the pro-
vince for loans for tile drainage.
The clerk was authorized by council to
re -advertise for applications for a super-
visor for the landfill site.
Building permits were authorized to be
issued to R. McAllister for a mobile home;
W de Boer for a barn extention; M. Wilson
for a garage; W. Creighton for a shed; R.
Pentland for a shed; and B. Raynard for a
shed.
General accounts totalling $12,736.12 and
road accounts totalling 11,003.05 were mo-
tioned for payment by council.
India main topic of discussion

Mrs. Ira Dickie was the hostess for the
South Kinloss WMS meeting on May 6.
Directors Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes and
Mrs. Bruce Hamilton led the evening's
proceedings.
Mrs. Allan MacDougall, president, open-
ed the meeting with a poem, followed by a
hymn with a Mother's Day theme.
The secretary's report was read and ap-
proved, new correspondence dealt with
and business carried on. This was conclud-
ed with a hymn.
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes took the Bible
Study from Galations Ch. 3 v 23-29. Mrs.
Bruce Hamilton spoke on feminism. "We
are all one in Jesus Christ".
The rollcall was taken by 16 members
answering to the word "children".
Partaking in the prayer circle were Mrs.
Leonard Maclnnes, Mrs. Olive Needham
and Mrs. Harry Lavis. Mir. Harold
CHURCH
Howald gave a reading.
The Study Book was well done by Mrs.
Bruce Hamilton. Group discussions sur-
rounded the topics of governing India and
the church were thought-provoking. The
main problem is communalism. This study
was ended by a prayer a poem.
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes collected the of-
fering and gave the offertory prayer. The
courtesy remarks were heard by Mrs.
Bruce Hamilton. The closing prayer was
given by Mrs. Vera Schmidt followed by a
hymn.
Grace was sung and a delicious dessert
luncheon was enjoyed.
