Three-way tie in euchre
There were 17 tables of euchre at the
Seniors' Centre last Wednesday evening.
The high man was Gordon Pollock while
the low man was elmer Trommer. The
high lady was Mary Spriggs who won the
cut with Evelyn Errington. The low lady
saw a three-way cut between Helen
Russell, Louise Brindley. and Viola Petrie
with Helen winning. The door prizes were
won by Dorothy Cuyler and Glenn Weaver.
Once again this year the children in the
village are making good use of the
Kinsmen playground. Although some
parents seem to think the equipment is not
properly maintained, others think the
playground is an excellent meeting place
for the little ones to play instead of on the
streets. The Kinsmen and Kinettes should
be commended for this worthy endeavour
in our village.
Marie Park, Lee Shetler and Ann Kraul
of our area enjoyed a bus trip to Hamilton
on Tuesday to the Ottawa Street textile
area as well as a shopping tour.
Sandra Rivett of the village, along with
friend Bev Shepherd of Goderich, recently
returned from a trip to Colombia - both
sporting nice brown tans.
The two stayed in an apartrhent-like
hotel room in the city of Cartagena,
overlooking the ocean. The weather was
extremlY hot and humid during their two-
week stay, in the 80 degree range every
day. The native people were also very
friendly and helpful.
Best of all, they brought home lots of
souvenirs, post cards andphotographs of
their trip.
A big crowd was on hand at the Stag and
Doe for Duane Rivett and Nancy Car-
michael at the Goderich Arena on April 10.
They will be married on April 11 at the
Dungannon United Church.
If there is no more interest generated in-
to the Dungannon News column, than has
been shown in the last few weeks, this will
be the last column from this
correspondent.

The Dungannon II "Surviving. With
Style" Club met on February 17 at the
home of Marie Stewart. the members
started the meeting with the 4-H Pledge
and the rollcall.
The members then talked about eight
steps for doing laundry and how to sort dif-
ferent clothes. The needles and threads
were then passed out and all learned how
to sew a button onto a piece of cloth.
Meeting five was based on keeping the
house clean and helping with everyday
chores around the house. They learner'
how to make these chores a lot easier and a
lot quicker to do.
Dungannon II "Surviving With Style"
met at the home of Sally Wright on April 7.
When all members were present, Mr.
Wright showed the 'members how to
change a tire, cheek the oil level, brake
fluid, tire pressure and boost the battery.
When this was finished', meeting six
began. The members talked about dif-
ferent means of transportation and plann-
ing a trip. They also talked about the
responsibilities and costs of owning a car.
The meeting ended with a discussion on
book completion. The club will meet again
on April 29 to prepare their exhibits for
achievement night.
Local returns from hospital
The community would like to wish Bob
Farrish a speedy recovery after being a
patient in Stratford hospital last week.
Neighbors and friends turned out at a
Stag and Doe for Debbie Drennan and
Mike Courtney -held on April 4. Debbie is
the daughter of Henry and Bernice Dren-
nan and Mike is the son of Bob and Joyce
Courtney of London.
Frances Marsman of London is visiting
with her parents Dennis and Irene Dalton
for a few days.
Unfortunately, _ the barn of Bernard
O'Neil burned down on Wednesday morn-
ing,. April 7. Some hay and equipment as
well as some farm equipment belonging to
neighboring farmers was lost in the blaze.
Many ladies in the area attended a
shower for Debbie Drennan at
Kingsbridge on Thursday night. Debbie
received many lovely gifts. Assisting Deb-
bie in opening her gifts were her sister
Anne Johnson, Jackie Van Osch and the
groom's sister, Shannon Courtney.
KINTAIL
On Saturday, April 11, volunteers show-
ed up at the Kintail Presbyterian Camp for
their annual spring clean-up. The camp is
now officially open for the summer season.
Ladies of the Ashfield Presbyterian
Church have been busy making a quilt for
their annual bazaar in July.
The parishoners of the Ashfield church
are planning on sprucing up their church
basement with new curtains and light fix-
tures. They also plan on painting the
basement.
We received a post card from Ray
Dalton who is now spending a few days in
Las Vegas. He says he may be home by
Easter.
