In charge were fall fair lady directors Mrs. Sharon(Gary) Courtney of the 2nd west and Mrs. Marion Perrin) Lowry of Lurgan hill, 4th con west. Sharon called on Thursday morning with these details of the fun party - Ten tables were playing. Winners were high lady - Joyce( Bob) Courtney, low lady - Donalda Pollard. High man - Jack Campbell of Amberley and low m'a - ,1im Brook of Ripley. The fourth euchre • party for the Ripley Huron fall fair will be on Mar. 25 – That is a week from tonight at 8 p.m. in the Huron township hall and Mrs. Isabel(Jim) Brook of Ripley. The euchre card party will follow the roast beef dinner. Announced the winner Last Friday morning March 13th C.K.N.X. radio announcer Don Fraser at Wingham made the draw for the winner in the Purina Dog Chow. The winner's name was Mrs. Mary Downey, RR. 3, Holyrood. She lives on the 6th concession in Kinloss east of the Huron township boundary. Mary said that her dog's name is Winston and he .is good. Rabid fox found Also last Friday the 13th of March and just an hour later at 11 o'clock that same morn- ing, a rabid fox made it to the home of Bill and Dianne MacKay on lot 17, Concession 10 Huron township. Mrs. MacKay found the animal lying against the outside of the house with its legs stretched out. The authorities were notified and informed that no human contact had been made. Dr. Don Hodgins checked with the Health of Animals so it was shot and buried. Holidays spent in Montreal Scott Allen, son of Winston and Karen Allen of William Street in Ripley is spending this week of school holidays in Montreal. He was invited to go with friend Lyndon Johnston of R3, Holyrood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Johnston. Barry is the reeve of Kinloss township. And he is also a player on the Ripley Oldtimers hockey team taking part in the annual Canadian tournament. They won last year in Edmonton. Holidays in Florida Joe and Janice Hodgins and family Mike and Kelly of Ripley Street in Ripley spent the past couple of weeks in Florida. They went to Orlando - the Disneyland part first. Legion Curling bonspiel The l .ipley Legion Bonspiel was another success. It was held last Saturday March 14th in the Ripley Curling Arena and it was promptly written up by Terry Paquette, the secretary reporter. The winning team was - skip Jim MacTavish, vice Wayne Watson, second Dave Walden, and lead Peg Mac - Charles. Second place was Don Paquette, third Julie McGuire, fourth Ray Collins, fifth Barry Cliffe and sixth Bob Simpson. Organizer Jim Walden did a great job get- ting all the culler, there. The Ladies Auxiliary put on their usual delicious meals for lunch and supper. World skating championships What an enjoyable week of TV it was this past week. The annual World Figure Skating Championships each evening last week from Cincinnati. They were narrated by Ted Reynolds and Toller Cranston both dinner knowledgeable in this line of sports. Next year the show will be staged in Budapest in Hungary - March 1988 - a wonderful show. Ted and Toller said that they will be there and it will be shown here. JOHN C. MACDONALD John C. MacDonald of Ripley passed away just after midnight last Saturday mor- ning March 14, 1987, in the Kincardine District Hospital. John Calvin MacDonald was born on Friday. November 6, 1920 in Huron township. His parents were Donald S. , MacDonald and Margaret MacKinnon. Surviving are his wife the former Mary Courtney, their daughter Corinne of Orillia, and their son Courtney of London. Also he is survived by two sisters - Lenore - Mrs. Larry Harriston of Goderich and Florence MacDonald of Ripley. In addition there are a number of in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. To all family members sincere sympathy is extended at this time of bereavement. He was predeceased by four sisters and one brother in addition to his parents, namely Virginia, Norma, Marie, Irene and Donald.
