Valentines activities
Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 .class worked on
valentines activity centres this week.
Several pupils also participated in the
junior volleyball tournament on
Wednesday.
On Friday, Mrs. Cameron's
Kindergarten 1 class made valentine
holders. On Tuesday, they made valentine
cards, heart mice and cupids.
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 Room 10 class
enthusiastically welcomed a return visit
from Mrs. Graham who helped them make
valentine banners and Mr. Robinson who
taught them how to perform mime, and the
clas also played more concentration
games. The in -class public speaking win-
ners were Adella Andrew, .Jack Chisholm
and Trevor Moffat with Mark Kerr receiv-
ing an honorable mention.
Mrs. Young's Grade 1-2 Room 1 class is
very busy with valentines activities. Last
week, "All About Me" was Devon Mac-
Donald and this week it is Graham Cere.
Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 Room 4 gave their
speeches this week. They were all terrific
thanks to Mr. Warren Robinson who
helped us learn how to speak. It was hard
to pick two for the school finals, but the
class decided to send Debbie Ross (Trees 1
and Grant Cairncross (Lady, My Dog ).
Mr. Geoff also came to visit. he showed
the class a bluebird house and pictures of
bluebirds. Everyone loved the color of the
bluebird. The class hopes he can come
again to learn how to make some homes
for the bluebirds.
The class were involved in Valentine
centres this week as well as "introducing"
Robin Hoggarth. They're also having hot
dogs at the Valentine party. YUM! ! !

Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 Room 7 class

Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Blanchette for
their help with preparations and for the op-
portunity to help create these fairy tale
creatures.

On Monday in Miss Mathers' Grade 1

Graham, the Art co-ordinator. She worked
with the children to make a repeating pat-
tern using heart shapes. This exercise was
a good start to a week full of Valentines ac-
tivities and stories.
The Kindergarten 2 class built and In-
credible Edible Snowman using bird seed,
bread, raisins, peanut butter, etc. to help
our feathered friends through the snowy
weeks ahead. They are also making bread
bears with the aid of Mrs. Marie Webster
and the Grade 6 peer partners.
School survey
This week in the school survey, the
reporters have two different groups for the
survey question. For the seniors ( Grade 7
and 8) the question is: Do you think
Physical Education should be compulsory
in all grades in high school?
In Grade 8, Jeff Storey and Rob Woods
both said that yes, phys. ed should be com-
pulsory because we have to keep in shape.
Mrs. Allen, a teacher, says: "Students
who are physically fit have a better frame
of mind in which to learn."
Joyce McWhinney, of Grade 7, says no
because not everybody likes it.
In the junior grades the question is:
"What is your favorite subject in school?"
Angela Tyndall of Grade 6 says phys. ed;
Dillon Moore in Kindergarten says he likes
centres; and Daryl Aitchison in Grade 1
says writing.
