Who's Lancer mystery man this week?
The Lucknow Lancers were back in ac-
tion after two weeks without a game and
managed a win and a tie.
Lancers 5 Teeswater 5
Friday night, the host Teeswater squad
battled back from a 4-2 deficit to gain a 5-5
tie with the Lancers.. Teeswater open the
scoring but Dave Gibson's shot from the
point evened the score after one period. In
the second period, the Lancers built up a
4-2 lead on goals by Pat Murray and Grant
Gilchrist with two but Teeswater managed
to tie the score before the period ended.
The L ncers grabbed the lead again in
the third with Grant Gilchrist scoring his
third of the night for the hat -trick, but
Teeswater came back with a goal of their
own and the game ended 5-5.
Saturday night it was off to Kincardine
to play the Kings and when the final whis-
tle blew it was 6-4 for the Lancers.
Lancers 6 Kincardine 4
Kincardine jumped out to an early lead
but Steve MacPherson got one back before
the first period ended.
Allan Eadie and Art Clark scored two
more for the good guys in the second while
Kincardine managed only one to end the
second period 3-3.
The Lancers "Big Zee" Mike Whitcroft
gave the Lancers a one goal lead early in
the third period and Greg Hamilton scored
the winner minutes later as the Lancers
led 5-3. The Kings scored one more but
Kevin Clark's empty net goal preserved
the win. The line of Art Clark, Allan Eadie,
Mike Whitcroft and Pat Murray were a hot
item Saturday night combining for 12
points in the game.
Mystery Man
Who has played more games than any
other Lancer player? Who comes out of the
corners with the puck more often than
anyone else? Whose name is a household
word in Kincardine? And who sets up Brad
Humphrey for all those goals? If Jim Mur-
ray'sname hasn't come to mind yet,
maybe you've got to see the Lancers in ac-
tion. Jim's rough and ready style of play
creates a lot of havoc in the corners and
over the years has become a favoriteof the
hometown fans.
The Lancers have two home games next
weekend when Teeswater comes to Aown
on Friday and on Sunday they play host to
Ripley.
